The Aspen XII Ensures You Will Never Forget An Anniversary
When it comes to customizing a watch, you generally are limited to selecting specific components (say, a handset or dial) or maybe the finish given to the case. So, what if you really want to get into customizing every detail of a watch? Well, then you have moved into the realm of one-off builds, with prices reflecting the level of detail and effort C while, in return, scarcely encountered possibilities are offered. What the highly unusual Aspen XII watch offers is a customizable calendar and reminder system C all mechanical C assuring that you never again forget one of those important anniversaries. The "hook" for this watch is that you work with the brand to get 12 special dates (and a name for those dates) built on to the cylinders used in the watch. The date of the anniversary is displayed in a small window just under the 12 o'clock position, with a corresponding window down at 6 o'clock that gives you the name of the milestone or anniversary. As you cycle through these events (and
Victorinox Alliance Mechanical Review
It's pretty rare that a household name brand surprises you with a product, but in the case of the watch we're looking at today, that's exactly what happened. Victorinox, known of course for their Swiss Army knives as well as their watches, brings to mind a certain design vocabulary. One that speaks most clearly to a military aesthetic, particularly infantry field watches. Though they have made models that diverge, they tend to be in the way of modern sport aesthetics. So, when a clearly vintage inspired design showed up on their site, a watch that I don't even recall seeing in Basel, I was surprised and intrigued. The Alliance Mechanical has design elements that speak directly to watches from the early 50's and late 40's. Elements that, to my knowledge, hadn't been used by Victorinox in other watches. The Alliance Mechanical stands out for being a bit lighter, perhaps dressier, than their other watches, but at the same time having details of their modern and military designs. Powered by
Announcing The First Ever HODINKEE Collectors Summit, Coming To New York City This December
We love watches. We love watch collecting. We also love watch collectors, and in fact most of the team at HODINKEE are indeed serious collectors in their own right. The collecting community is a small but ever growing group of global timepiece nuts that bond over a preternatural love for these wonderful little machines. And the entire purpose of this humble little platform on which you find yourself is really to bring the most detailed and in-depth knowledge from the great thought leaders in horology around the world, to you, at home. And that is why today we are beyond excited to announce something to merge you – members of a burgeoning global family of watch lovers – with them, the tastemakers and power-players. This December 11th and 12th, we will be holding the very first HODINKEE Collectors Summit. This, my friends, you will not want to miss. 1 OF 4 Okay, So What Is It?The idea behind the HODINKEE Collectors Summit (HCS) is about sharing knowledge between

PAM 389 or 1389
Should I bite on the 389 or wait for the 1389? Can't decide because the 389 is a bit too thick
