The MeisterSinger Salthora Changes Up A Singular Design
Many people are fond of single-hand watches, and I can certainly understand the appeal. It is an extremely slick design with a lone hand spinning around the dial. That said, for people such as myself, you can end up losing a bit of precision in your time-telling, even if there is an accurate movement tucked away in the case. If that's the camp you find yourself in, then the MeisterSinger Salthora may just be the solution for you.As they put it, this is still a "typical" MeisterSinger, carrying their clean design and technical chops. The big twist to the MeisterSinger Salthora is the inclusion of a jump hour disc at the 12 o'clock position. To my way of thinking (and preferences), this is about as perfect of an implementation of a single-hand watch as I've seen. You still have the unique presentation that the single hand affords, and then you layer in another level of rarity with the jump-hour disc C all combined to create a watch that reads as accurate as the movement allows it to be.S
Magrette Chronograph Watches
Magrette of New Zealand has just released two watches for pre-order that are the brand's first chronograph watches. The watches contain the same movement and share similar cases, but have their differences. The first watch is the Magrette Moana Pacific Chronograph PVD and the second is the Magrette Regattare Chronograph. With their first chronograph watch Magrette did not want to alienate its loyal followers by pricing the watch too high. At the same time the movement needed to be interesting and useful. Magrette turned to the actually quite impressive Seagull TY-2901 manually wound 30 minute chronograph movement. This is a Chinese made replica of an older movement called the Venus 175. Another watch that used this movement was the Techne Sparrow Hawk that I reviewed here. The Sparrow Hawk sold very well and I attribute that to people liking the nice mixture of interest and value in the movement.Through the exposed caseback you can see the movement - which has the fine look of a vintage
Review: Techne GosHawk (Ref. 411)
Previously on worn&wound we've discussed those watches or watch brands that manage to achieve superb design and quality in a surprisingly / unbelievably affordable price point.? Think Steinhart with their $400, ETA powered pieces, or the $200 Maratac Pilot with a quality automatic and sapphire crystal the size of your head. ?Having spent some time with the $338?Techn GosHawk (and previously Sparrowhawk) I am beginning to think that Techn deserves a place in that conversation.?The GosHawk pairs unique aviator styling and excellent craftsmanship with a quality Japanese automatic movement and superior components.Case: Bead Blasted Stainless SteelMovement: Miyota 8217 AutomaticDial: BlackLume: C3Lens: Sapphire with AR coatingStrap: “Saddle” Oiled LeatherWater Res.: 50mDimensions: 41.4mm x 48.7mmThickness: 12.5mmLug Width: 20mmCrown: Screw downWarranty: 1 YearCaseThe case of the GosHawk is simple and clean, matching an aesthetic seen throughout the watch. My first Speedmaster - 1140 Reduced
Hi guys,I am very happy that I succeed to find Reduced with the gold movement(1140 which is 2890-2 with DD 2020).I sent the watch to my watchmaker (Omega`s AD service) on last Thursday and I can`t wait to get it back.Actually I sent it to him few hours after I have bought the Speedy. The watch is not only serviced,I think it has been put on restavration, because the watchmaker told me that he had changed with new many parts - the glass, the spring, the tachy bezel, some bracelet links,2 wheels,1 movement holder, the crown gasket.Initially the chronograph second hand was jumping at 2 seconds (when I have pushed the start button) and then it waited for a while and then it started running kind of roughly(not so smooth as the small second hand at 3 o`clock). But after the 2 wheels change this problem vanished. The watch has been also serviced, lubricated and set on a timegrapher. The case and the bracelet are polished as they should look originally.I suppose I will receive it after 2-3 days, but I ca
5711 white vs 5711 blue
Curious as to the consensus here. Do you think that down the road, when the insanity ends, that the white will have more collector interest then the blue?
