Watch Choice For Survival: Top Pick For Deserted Island Scenario?
If you are anything like me, you have seriously considered what you would do in a survival situation on a deserted island. Do I ever anticipate being in this situation? Well no, but as a dedicated lover of the survivalist genre (from Robinson Crusoe to Castaway), I do take the time to ponder such issues. Likely or not, it makes for good conversation, and an interesting tactical decision, thinking about what watch would be perfect. Let's see what some of the considerations you need to take when choosing your island adventure watch. You'll need a rugged, long lasting watch, with functions that will be helpful during everyday endeavors.Under the most dire of scenarios, you are going to be stuck on this island for a long time, perhaps even forever. You can never anticipate what is going to happen to your watch, but you want something that can take just about anything, keep running, and provide you with as much flexibility as possible. This is not a job for a fashion watch, or even your bas
Question on older Constellation
image.jpgAn old friend of mine passed away and he left me his well used Connstellation. I was trying to learn a bit more about it. He told me he bought it when he was in the service in the late Vietnam era, I think that is correct for this model. I wanted to look up the serial number but the number on the movement is unlike others I've seen. Is this a replacement movement or something of that sort? Also the band is missing one of the links closest to the case, I have no idea how that came to be but if I want to wear it I'd need at least two links and it sure would look better if it wasn't missing that link. Am I right in assuming I should just be on the lookout for a complete bracelet assuming I ever decided to wear it?

Original Railmaster Find...
My friend showed me a recent find. It's been in a bank vault for approx. 20 years. Omega Railmaster. Never serviced, all original dial. Does anyone know about these watches. I like the look of the oscillating rotor, it's definitely vintage= note the original caseback gasket....
78790 endlinks
I want one oyster bracelet that is compatible with my 1016 R serial and my 14060m Z serial.I like the 78790 do to the smaller clasp and safety. Can I use both 501b and 580 end links on this bracelet? I don't know if the last center link is wedge or round on 78790 or if that matters.Thank you in advance
