Pretty bummed about a vintage Omega
Folks,So my father recently gave me a circa 1950's Omega that has been handed down from my grandfather to my pops and now to me. It's a pretty cool watch, plastic domed crystal, stick hour markers, no date and a nicely patina'd dial that is a yellowish gold hue. The case is stainless but does not have any markings of the model. So I have no idea what it actually is? Unfortunately it isn't running so I took it to my favorite AD where I buy most of my watches and asked them to take a look.I get a call today and the watchmaker gave me some unfortunate news, aparentely the balance is pretty much out of commission and the movement needs some work. Long story short, they quoted me a $700 dollar estimate to fix it as it needs some parts and labor. They also informed me maybe I can find a movement and swap it out. Once I get the watch back I can post some pictures to get some thoughts on it. I should have it back Friday.Just thought I would share my disappointment.
Patek Grande Complication
Such a simple dial ... Such a complicated movement !!And what a SUPERB finishing !!Had the chance to tkae the pics of this super watch at my AD a few days ago
Trip to my AD
I took a trip into town yesterday to see my AD, confirmed that the waiting time for a Daytona C is five years... and eighteen months (at least) for a DSSD Deep Blue - so I wandered down Collins Street to their sister shop Watches of Switzerland and had a browse ... and came away with this on my wrist... I saw it - and it sang to me, so it was a done deal... first of this brand for me - probably not the last... got great treatment at the dealer - champagne and all...!!!Here 'tis... PAM 643 Ceramica with the hobnail dial...
Help needed to decide between two tone sub and Daytona
Hi, I could use some input on a conundrum that I'm faced with. We have decided to get my Dad a retirement gift. I have never been into two tone watches so thought I'd get some opinions from those that are. My regular AD has two options for me. The two tone sub with black dial and bezel and the two tone Daytona with champagne dial and diamond hour markers. My wife and I are split as to which way we should go, so any input would be appreciated Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
