The mood was refreshingly festive inside a packed pavilion in front of Hall 1 at Basel as luminaries from the world of watches gathered to celebrate Elizabeth Doerr's new book, 12 FACES OF TIME: HOROLOGICAL VIRTUOSOS. Slated for release this fall, 12 FACES is a non-commercial, close-up look at 12 leading independent watchmakers and their mechanical masterpieces. Leonid Khankin, owner and creative director at the Swiss-American watch company Ernst Benz, threw the party to simultaneously celebrate the launch of his company's Instrument Series and to honor the horological heroes profiled in Doerr's book. Decision, advice needed.
I recently had the opportunity to try on a few beautiful watches in NY but given the exchange rate, duties, taxes, etc, I decided to hold off and see what was available back home.I initially contemplated getting the AP 44 RG in the summer but since I have the 42 ROO, I decided to hold off but its hard especially looking at some of the beautiful pics posted by fellow members (next year perhaps lol).Anyways I have narrowed it down to two, I am lacking a MP in my collection, love them both, 5205R-001 and ALS Grande Lange 1 MP (easy answer would be why not just buy both right?!? ).Are there any reasons from personal experiences or knowledge why I should not own either one of them?Thanks in advance!

question on serial number on 5980/1a bracelet
Hi Guys,First post here so sorry in advanced if i sound noobish.Just got my first patek and have some questions for the patek gurus hereI got the 5980 used from a watch dealer and i noticed that the serial thats on the back of the bracelet is on the wrong location from the pictures i see on the internet. All of the serial i see online are located on the bottom side where as on mine it is on the top side. Is this an indication of anything? should i be worried that the watch have been disassembled before and put back wrongly? is this a fake? or am i thinking too much? GMT misaligned hour hand.
Hey folks,Bought a used 116710LN a few months back in early August. Hasn't left my wrist since. It's my first Rolex and I absolutely love the damn thing. Unfortunately a little while ago I noticed that the hour hand drags behind by about 20mins. That is to say, the hour hand won't be pointing directly at the hour marker until the minute hand reaches the 4 o'clock position (ie 20min past the hour).I thought I could live with it for a while but with such a substantial misalignment it makes it difficult to accurately read the time at a glance. I emailed the dealer with no response and will probably head in later today to speak with him. My question is has anyone eelse experiences this before, what may cause this and whether you think it's the dealer's or my responsibility to fix? Thanks everyone. You're all legends.R.
