Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Memovox International
At SIHH Jaeger-LeCoultre introduced a modern version of the Master Memovox International, originally created for the brand's 125th anniversary in 1958 and also known as the Memovox Worldtimer. The alarm disk on this Memovox (“voice of memory”) features different cities and regions. This piece will be produced in two limited editions in 18-carat pink gold and in steel. These new versions are fitted with the company's Calibre 956, which is the direct descendant of JLC’s Calibre 815, the first automatic movement with alarm introduced in 1956. This is a rare example of a movement that's still in production more than 50 years after its creation, though many improvements have been added over the years. In 1959, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 825 added a date aperture at 3 o'clock. In 1970 the Calibre 916 replaced its swinging weight by a 360 winding rotor and increased the balance frequency from 21,600 vph to 28,800 vph, which has become the norm for precision watches. In 19
Omega Speedmaster: Variations
OK. We've seen the Speedmaster in the movies. We've surveyed the Speedmaster's early years and its evolution to Professional status. And we've taken a look at how Omega reacted to the quartz crisis and its effect on the Speedmaster line C which was one BIG variation. But on its way to iconic status, the Speedmaster has gone through other variations just as significant as the electronic models. These variations included things like straight lugs C which were the original configuration, twisted lugs, the appearance of a crown guard, multiple case shapes, an applied symbol to the dial, a white "panda" dial that was exclusive to the Japanese market, sapphire crystals, different movements (including automatics), display backs, moon phases, and even a very rare perpetual calendar C again exclusively for the Japanese market.Another oddity occasionally seen with vintage Speedmasters is the so-called "tropic" dial. "Tropic" refers to a black dial which has turned brown with age, as if it had b
Planet Ocean Authenticity
Hey All-Can my PO expert friends give a look at this PO. A co-worker is dumping it at a great price and I just need to make sure I'm covered for authenticity. Thanks.
Proud Owner of an Omega
My first ever Omega, and my first ever watch that cost over $2000. .omegawatches/index.ph...s=1&no_cache=1I will take pics and post later. Honestly, I was saving up for a Rolex SD but when I checked this out, I was in love instantly. Bought it spanking new from the boutique in NYC. Great service, and reasonably priced. I know an Omega won't hold its value like a Rolex but I'm not buying to sell. However, will still save up for a Rolex.Does anyone else own this watch here?
So, need a purchase advice..
Hi guys,I'll be doing a purchase in the upcoming couple of weeks and I'm a bit undecided actually. My intention is to add 2 valuable piece of Patek to my current collection. The first one is decided, it is going to be a 5270G. I have my eye on it for a long time now and I would like to own one very much. The other one is a true dilemma for me. I like to wear the watch as much as possible, but on the other hand, I'm trying to get the rare pieces as possible. For me, there are 3 candidates.1. 5711PI wouldn't actually think of another reference if I have my hands on one of this very rare pieces, but I'm not sure if i ever can get it, so I need to have some alternatives, thus this thread exists. This is the true simple but one of the most exclusive piece for me. I was thinking about getting a 5711/1A because of my admiration to its pure simple design, now it has added rarity and exclusivity. But as I said, I'm not sure about the availability, so the poll is really about the other 2 candidates
