Wifey's Bday Gift. Input Please.
Ok. So my wife is turning 40 in a couple of months and I've decided to get her a watch as her gift. I've gotten it down to 2 models. Got some input from her in passing as we window shopped. I'm trying to decide between an AP ROO SS white or a Blancpain Leman model in white. Both have diamonds on the bezel. The AP comes on a rubber strap and the Blancpain comes on either stain or alligator strap. The AP is much more sporty while the Blancpain is a bit more dressy, but sporty enough I think to wear casually. She already has dressy pieces from JLC and Cartier. Here is my dilemma. The Blancpain is an automatic movement and the AP is a Quartz. Is it worth paying this much money for a quartz movement? She likes the idea of a quartz because she doesn't have to adjust the time before wearing it. I just have a hard time getting my head around it. I just wish AP would make this model in an automatic without the chrono. What do you guys think?
Royal Oak 15450 - very impressed!
Hi allTried this on today and am very impressed. The dial is unbelievable - photos don't do it justice. I just loved everything about it, 37mm size, date, polished/brushed steel case and a very nice bracelet with solid deployment clasp. Anybody have any comments with regards to movement - is it reliable?Cheers Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Finally...the Moonwatch.
My first Omega...and as 'they' say, no collection is complete without one.Unfortunately, it won't get too much wrist time just yet. It will soon be sent off to Rik for an overhaul and some modification...stay tuned....to be continued... :)FWIW - I stopped by the NYC Omega Boutique to have this purchase checked out and they were more than helpful. The new service area is great; you can see the watchmaker and everything he is doing from the waiting area. They gladly opened up the watch to confirm the movement, pressure tested, and timed the watch for me as a I waited. Great place.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1417454154.781523.jpgAnd then trying some bracelets on, not sure about this...never worn any before. What do you think?ImageUploadedByTapatalk1417454205.571686.jpg
I am very disillusioned at the moment with Omega
I posted a while back, excited that my new speedmaster (2 sub dial 2011 version on Alligator strap) was due in to my AD in a day or 2. Well that was around 3-4 weeks ago and still no watch. I phone constantly to find out the latest news of it's arrival only now to be told I am 13th on a list and it could be December. However the last 2 weekends I have travelled to London to visit 2 Omega Boutiques:- Old Bond Street and Regent Street and whilst there Harrods watch dept and low and behold they not only have one Speedmaster but at least 2 of them that I have physically seen. Why Does Omega insist on giving all the new watches to Boutiques (and Harrods, which is not a Boutique) to be just sitting in safes and display units when watch collectors like myself with outstanding orders for them cannot get one? I'd love to know what you guys think and perhaps you shed some light on this for me. Thanks
Jumbo rose gold or 5980R? 48 hours to decide.
Hi chaps, pls help. Cant deicde on which, getting both isnt an option either, haha. Finally found an AD that carries both watches together and was able to try both on for the first time. Will be a first for me to own either brands. Pls advice.Adrian.
