Sotheby’s Appoints Tim Bourne Worldwide Head of Watches
Sotheby's has appointed Tim Bourne as Worldwide Head of its Watches department. Mr. Bourne will be based in Hong Kong, overseeing Sotheby's Asia watch auctions in addition to those in Geneva, New York and London. Sotheby’s said the appointment is a strategic move in response to the rapid expansion of the auction market for watches worldwide, especially in Asia. Mr. Bourne previously headed Sotheby’s Hong Kong Watches department from 1997 to 2002 where he pioneered the first stand-alone watch auction in Asia in 1997. The sale, with a sold rate approaching 90%, established Hong Kong as an important watch auction center. He has remained involved in the watch auction business actively in the past seven years, working in consignment, business development, marketing, sales and administration in Asia, London and the Americas. Girard-Perregaux Sport Classique Laureato Evo 3 Large Date Watch Available On James List
I never thought much about the Girard-Perregaux Laureato Evo 3 watches until I was able to get my hands on one. They just weren't of the type of design that visually stands out to me. They felt a bit on the "older" side of sport watches like the Vacheron Constantin Overseas models. Then I was able to actually put one on my wrist and I saw a lot of value that was originally lost to me. One of the things that the Laureato Evo 3 does well is present a good looking three dimensional dial. Nothing is flat on it. Basically, most cheap watches look cheap because they have flat printed dials with hands floating over them (too simple to really look good these days). Look at the dial here for example and it basically the opposite. 41mm Royal Oak Chrono dial color options?
Hey everyone! I have been bitten hard by the AP bug with the new 41mm RO.I am a Rolex and Panerai guy but after seeing the posts on this forum I am mezmorized by these watches. Are these RO as beautiful in person as in these pictures!!!' Wow! Anyway I was wondering if someone could tell me if the new RO chrono comes in all three colors as well? This will be an everyday watch so any thoughts would be welcome. I know there have been some debating as to the size of the new RO and seems the 39mm is the forums choice.Thanks for looking :)

Stem Length
I have an Omega 2512.30 that needed a new crown and stem. I ordered from Otto Frei and the stem is not cut to the correct length. Any one know what the length of the stem should be, the old stem no longer exists. Other times I have gotten replacement stems they were the correct length. Anyone ever cut down a stem to fit and can tell me how to measure for the correct length. Thanks in advance for any help.ThanksJohn
