Found: Two Incredible Pocket Watches From Girard-Perregaux, Including A Tourbillon With Three Bridge
The romantic notion of a handmade watch is one that doesn't stand very much exposure to the present world of watchmaking. For many decades, the overwhelming majority of components found in series produced watches have been produced by multi-axis milling machines, and if today you visit pretty much any watch manufactory from the smallest to the largest, you'll see that most parts are being made by computer controlled (CNC) machines. There are any number of practical reasons why this is so, of course (and in general, everyone has benefited, including consumers) but it's interesting to look back occasionally to watches made at a time when handmade meant just that – and when the skill of the hands doing the making was instantly visible. These two pocket watches, from Girard-Perregaux, represent the absolute acme of the art of watchmaking in the 19th century, and a range of manual skills that in some cases at least are for all intents and purposes extinct. The two pocket wa
New ROO Goliath
Hey guys. I just found out there is a new ROO called Goliath. There are 3 Versions. RG (limited to 12 pcs), WG(limited to 12 pcs) and SS (limited to 48 pcs). Each one apparently comes with 2 extra straps (Blue rubber and Orange rubber). Here are some pics: SS (Blue strap) then WG(orange strap) then RG.What do you guys think? Anyone has more info?
Debating on AP
So here is the deal I have recently been looking into the Royal Oak Offshore collection specifically the volcano and safari theme. One of the trusted sellers who I have worked with in the past has a used G serial Volcano on the forum in the 14ish range. I was contemplating trading my subc a little over a year old and my Polar explorer 2 42mm towards it. Doing the math I would probably have to kick in around 2kish dollars (plus or minus a little). Was wondering what you guys on the AP forum would do. Trade 2 for 1? The Volcano would be my only watch so i would probably have to purchase a G-shock or something for when I'm working and the Volcano would be the home/weekend watch.thanks for any advice and I appreciate it
Help needed!!
Hey folks, a friend of mine offered me an AP Offshore like the one above, but honestly I've never seen one. I search the AP website and couldn't find the model. Is this watch an authentic AP??? Tks!
