Rolex & Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance Car Show
One of my favorite places in the world is the Monterey Bay area along the central coast of California. I've regularly traveled to Monterey and adjacent cities such as Carmel-by-the-Sea and Pebble Beach since I was a child - perpetually enjoying the natural beauty and particular events found in the region. Each August, "Classic Car Week" fills the streets, hotels, and almost every venue, with people coming to town for the Concours d'Elegance, as well as related events which are all about celebrating (as well as buying and selling) beautiful and distinguished automobiles. For quite some time now, the official sponsor of the Concours and other events, such as that at the Mazda Speedway at Laguna Seca and the Quail Lodge show is Rolex watches. I have a deep love for Daytonas and one of my all time favorite Daytona is the white dial Panda Daytona with Rolex's 4030 movement. Unfortunately finding this model in a mint condition is close to impossible. So I decided to go a different route.I bought an excellent condition Rolex 16523 with box and paper, spent decent chunk of change and bought brand new Rolex 16520 conversion parts. Here is the end result. All parts were bought brand spanking new***Decided to throw in something extra Now the beautiful 4030 movement can be seen in its full glory.Thought Id share the results with you all.
