Omega Advice for Local Charity Shop
The Manager of Capability Scotland has asked me to look at this Omega that was handed in. She wants to know if it is real and what is wrong with it. Having taken the back off, I think we can say that it's a real Omega Date Quartz watch and going by the serial number dates to 1979. When turning the crown, there is a grating feeling and only the hour hand a date move, the second and minute hand do not move when turning the crown. Any help and advice would be appreciated. Brian
5524 (Pilot) lug width?
Hello all here at TRF! I wanted to know if anyone is aware of the lug width for this new model. So far I haven't been able to find that information, so I wanted to pose the questions to all the Patek aficionados here on the Forum.Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Which to use as a beater? 14060M or birth year 16570?
Hey guys.I recall asking this question before possibly. But can't locate the thread.Currently have two watches in my collection and offloaded the rest.Z serial 14060M 4 liner. Unpolished full kitBirth year (89) L serial 16570 with beautiful patina. Box and original warranty document.I work in the trades, mainly buying and flipping houses. I do the majority of the work myself. would like to use one as an every day beater i guess you would say.If you were me and these were your only two, which one would you wear daily for everything. and which would you wear sparingly? Have also contemplated purchasing a black bay 41 or an omega SMP. But when I'm not wearing one of my rolexes It causes me to just day dream about them all day haha (hope I'm not alone)Would love your opinion! CheersSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Rolex Submariner Vs. Explorer II (First Rolex Watch)
Hello Everyone,I have a dilemma I hope you can help me with. It takes me a LONG time to research and make up my mind when I purchase something so I hope you experts can provide some guidance in which direction I should go in purchasing my first Rolex.I have always wanted a Submariner but I was doing a little research and I am actually tempted in buying the Explorer II. I know the the general differences like what they both were made for but I really don't know what one would be the best in overall quality and ruggedness. I enjoy swimming and I am always doing outdoor activities so I need something that will hold up. I heard the Sub bezel is somewhat fragile and the Exp's bezel is stationary so basically what I am wanting to know is what watch would involve the least amount of work/maintenance over a lifetime? I have found a Sub (no date) but I heard it was not cosc certified. Is that something to worry about? Also, I am going to buy a pre-owned Rolex so I need some suggestions on some q
Trade in for a dress watch
So, lately my watch collection has become very slanted toward “tool watches”, especially with a 50 fathoms mil-spec on the way. I really don’t have something to wear for dressier occasions and I’ve fallen out of love with my IWC. I’m not a giant DJ or DD fan. And I prefer to keep it under 40mm.I was thinking of trading in my IWC Portuguese and FOIS (plus cash) for one of the below:1. YM 116621 brown dial2. Vacheron patrimomy traditionnelle3. H. moser center seconds with a funky blue dial.4. Lange Saxonia ultra-thin 37mm I know a YM isn’t technically a “dress watch”, but I feel with TT and a slim design, it can wear as a dressy watch.
