Mr. Jones Watches "The Accurate" Is Reminder Of Your Impending Demise
It is Halloween and you should expect something scary today. How about a tasty little watch treat that reminds you that you are going to die each time you look at it. It is called "The Accurate" by the ever so quirky Mr. Jones Watches brand out of London. The source of the watch name should be obvious - as the reminder on the watch is the surest thing in life. The watch will never prove wrong. The execution of the morbid message is clever as the words are spelled out in the hands - you can't even ignore them if you want to, because there they are each time you check the time. Here is an idea for the upcoming holiday season. Do you have any relatives (or maybe other people in your life) that you just want to go away. Well get them one of these watches. Priced at under $150, isn't it worth the experience of seeing the look on their face when you strap this new watch to their wrist. "Keep your eyes shut.?? I don't want you looking until I've glued put the watch on you!"The minimalist desig
A. Lange & Sohne Factory Trip Part 2: The Luxury German Watch Manufacturing Process
Mysteries are things you can't unravel in your mind. Knowledge of origin is key to dispelling an enigma, and the pathway to appreciation. You can't have passion for something you don't really understand. I began my love of watches ignorant of what went into making most watches. True timepiece appreciation can only come when you really know what goes into constructing watches. It gives you the ability to evaluate the high quality from the mainstream, and foresight to look beyond the dial. This article is the second part of my A. Lange & Sohne Germany trip discussion. It has taken me longer to get to writing this than I would have preferred, but it has given me time to lets these facts ruminate. In the part I article covering my trip I left off talking about the history of the brand and describing the watch making region. We are ready to go into the heart of the manufacture, taking (some of)? the mystery out of the end result, and impressing upon you what really goes into making the f
Chrono Minute Register Creeping Early Normal?
When I run the chrono on my new Speedy, the minute subdial creeps (not jumps or ticks over immediately at the 1min mark) to the 1 minute marker when the chrono seconds hand is at or stopped between 59 and 59.5 seconds, not at the 60 second mark when I would expect it to complete it's advance. The effect being, that if I am timing something with the chrono that takes Xmin and 59.5 seconds, the chrono timer will read X+1min and 59.5 seconds. Seems like a pretty glaring accuracy problem to me - has anyone else seen this? One other small issue is that the hours subdial seems to sit just to the right of the 12 hour marker. I've read this could be common as well. Is this poor quality for a watch at this price point?
Poll: Patek 5930 Worldtime Chrono
A simple poll. Do you like or not?
The time has come...
For the last 5 or so years I have longed after a Panerai. It was a struggle to figure out which one I wanted, you have to admit it is a big confusing if you don't know much about the brand.I joined this forum after I purchased my first real watch, a Rolex Sub 16610. My father had worn a Sub since the day I was born...so, I had to have my own. I still have his, it was left to me after his passing. I believe it is a 5510...not sure.Anyway, the time finally came for me to get my first Pam and I decided on a Base 000. The simplicity of the timepiece is what attracted me. Since the first day I planned to purchase one, I knew, because of this forum and the posts that I would be purchasing it from DavidSW...It is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, trust there will be some photos. Many!
