What Do The Patek Philippe 3582 & The Apple Watch Have In Common?
I've been enjoying the Apple Watch for more than a few days at the time this post was written C and it has got me thinking a lot about not just the future of electronic wrist watch functionality, but also watch design overall. What I've been most interested in is not only how smartwatch design will continue to evolve, but also what design precedents came before the Apple Watch that either helped inspire it or that it appears to coincidentally resemble. So, with that in mind, I felt it was a good idea to put together this fun little article on the odd similarities between the obscure Patek Philippe Ellipse Ref. 3582 (3582G) and the Apple Watch. I am actually rather convinced Apple was not at all inspired by the Patek Philippe 3582 during the design of the Apple Watch C so I am not suggesting that this rare Patek Philippe Ellipse is some type of direct design ancestor of the Apple Watch. Rather, I am suggesting that watch design is both cyclical and so diverse that it is often inevitable
Gucci Marina Chain Watch Collection - Women's Cruise 2009
A sexy bracelet that tells time. By Gucci. That's what this is.Gucci is a brand known for its Italian flair - classic shapes - and brilliant use of iconic motifs. You know a Gucci when you see it.This is holding true for their timepieces as well. As a relatively new extension of the brand, the watches are just a continuation of trends and designs that have already proven successful in their fashion and handbag lines. But one problem that seems to be clouding Gucci watches is that what works for handbags, does not always work for watches.I love Gucci - just not their watches. At least, not yet.Like the Gucci Marina Chain Watch, above, introduced at this year's Gucci Women's Cruise fashion show. In the context of a fashion show, this watch works. And in this promo shot below, it definitely fits in. The iconic logo bag - the neutral color palette - the lush fabrics But, for everyday wear - I do not see this as a wearable watch. The Marina Watch Collection definitely keeps up with id
Black Bay vs PO 8500
I am having a heck of a time trying to decide what my next purchase is going to be. I think I have it narrowed down to a Blue Tudor Black Bay and a Omega Planet Ocean 8500 (both pre-owned). My current collection is as follows:Rolex Sub CBreitling Avenger SeawolfOmega Speedmaster ProBreitling NavitimerOmega Planet Ocean 2500Current grails would be Rolex Exp II 42mm & GMT II BLNR (but those are little out of my price range at the moment)I originally wanted the Black Bay on the fabric strap because I thought it would be different from my other watches. However, I know that I didn't love the snowflake hands at first sight. I think I have somewhat convinced myself to like the Black Bay . However, every time I see pictures of the new 8500 PO, I think Now THAT is a good looking watch. I am torn, though, because I know how similar the 8500 is to the 2500, and in fact people prefer the 2500 for certain reasons. I am not interested in flipping the 2500 (for sentimental reasons), so I am stuc
