Speedmaster help/opinions
In the market for a Speedmaster and have it narrowed down to these 2:https://cdn2.jomashop/media/cata...0.01.005_1.jpghttps://production-fratellowatches.n...uesday-018.jpgCan obtain the Speedmaster Pro Moon new. The ‘57 re-edition would be bought used....most likely a 1998-2002 Watch. Price is about the same....the used watch a little less.Something about the brushed tachy bezel and broad arrow hands has my attention but I really like the looks of both. I do like the fact that I can get the full box set new with the Speedmaster Pro Moon.Have any of you Speedy owners considered both of these? Any reason to own one over the other? If so why?Help/Thoughts?Thx. and Happy Thanksgiving to all!
Speedmaster Date 3513.50 Question about Service
Watch is about 15 years old - this will be its 3rd service (last 2 were through Omega in Beverly Hills and it has been 5 years since the last one). It was losing about 20 seconds/day, so definitely due for service. Omega website says $675 for basic service. The list below is quoted by Hyde Park (Denver) at $760. Is there more on this list than would normally be required? Polishing is another $150. Any concerns about Hyde Park? I am not sure if I will polish or not.Service quote:Includes the disassembly, cleaning, adjustment and replacement of worn internal components.Includes all gaskets and case adjustments necessary to ensure the water resistance of the timepiece.Includes mainspring, barrel and arborIncludes dial repair (center and align)Includes hands repair (tighten and align)Includes stem replacement Includes case repair Includes push button repair Includes riveting 8 weeks from the date of approval is required for this process. Omega Planet Ocean 8500 too thick for my taste. Looking for 2500
So I bought a Planet Ocean earlier this year for my first Omega (232.30.42.21.01.003). Now that I have had it for a few months, I just can't get past the thickness of the the case. After some research, it seems the thickness is due to the newer 8500 movement that replaced the older 2500 movement.I am wondering a couple of things. First, does anyone have direct side view comparison photo(s) available? Second, what would the model number for the aesthetically equivalent 2500 movement based watch be? Second, would anyone consider a trade? I know the 8500 movement is more expensive, but frankly, I'm more interested in a watch I enjoy wearing.(Sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum, still new here at TRF)
