An Intro To Girard-Perregaux's Mechanics Of Style Web Magazine
This is a guest post written by Aaron Sigmond, a watch and luxury journalist who is also the editor and content curator of Mechanics of Style. MoS is a lifestyle magazine produced by Swiss watch maker Girrard-Perregaux to complement the lifestyle of the average Girard-Perregaux watch owner. Currently on Mechanics of Style there is a contest where you can win a Girard-Perregaux Golden Bridge Pen, we suggest you check it out.MOST OF LIFE'S big questions boil down to Who are we, and what are we doing here? Inevitably, any new publication, in any medium, must offer an answer, and that's just what Girard-Perregaux's Mechanics of Style a digital journal for the modern gentleman, covering everything in life that accompanies a fine wristwatch attempts to do.Start with the we. Many years ago long before I could truly appreciate a Girard-Perregaux, or anything that remotely approached its standards of craftsmanship I coined a phrase: Because style never goes out of fashion. Collecting The First Swiss Quartz Movement: 5 Beta-21 Watches To Look For
If you haven’t noticed, it’s quartz week here at HODINKEE. Earlier this week our resident watchmaker, Aaron, wrote about the Girard Perregaux caliber 350, and Jack wrote about the Grand Seiko Quartz SGBX061. But what about other collectible “quartz” watches, like the Beta 21 movement, on the market today? The history of quartz is a complex and lengthy one, so I will try keep it short and sweet. Quartz was invented in 1928 by Bell Labs, and due to the sheer size of early quartz clocks, were mostly restricted to use in labs as reference timekeepers. Quartz experimentation continued through the decades and by the early 1960s quartz movements had been miniaturized enough to allow for them to be used in marine chronometers. It was at this time, that the major Swiss watch brands caught wind of this new technology and approximately 20 maisons (including Omega, Piaget, and Patek Philippe) created the Centre Electronique Horloger (CEH) in 1962 in Neuchâtel

Hi AllI have been off the forum for some time and just back on. I noticed that above Seller is banned. David & Alan Gross from bridge street jewellers. I bought a PAM from him years back, should I be concerned about it’s authenticity? Anytime I took it to AD they would always ask me where I bought it.. I thought it may have been due to grey market. The papers I have are stamped in Lisbon.
Is the year the serial number/code on the bracelet to match the case serial year?
For example, I have an H serial 116200 and that refers to 2010 or newer and the bracelet is OP7 which refers to july 2006.Are those years supposed to match or is it fine that they don't match? Does that mean the bracelet was replaced/changed? I could not find any answers to this question. Thanks in advanced!
