Herman Miller Ergonomic Chairs Prove Top Choice For Discerning Watch Makers
One place that you don't want to skimp on is your desk chair, especially when your job requires lots of sitting. One such job is watch maker. Many watch makers sit of uncomfortable benches. Why? Well, because they don't think too much about it. For generations watch maker desks have more or less stayed the same, but the advent of the ergonomic desk chair is relatively new in comparison. So you have a degree of that is how it is done mentality. It doesn't need to be that way, and it is not always that way. At Seiko's high end watch movement manufacture location in Japan, the watch makers are blessed with comfortable Herman Miller ergonomic chairs. This was a deliberate decision at the company, because it was clear that workers need to be happy and healthy. Seiko admitted that while outfitting the work benches with the chairs was more expensive, it proved to be worth it. I didn't see anyone complain. Plus, with watch makers needing not only to sit for long hours, but to be still when t
Hands-On: With The Tissot Powermatic 80 Chronometer (Live Pics & Pricing)
Along with the vintage-inspired worldtimer, Tissot released an update of their popular Powermatic line at this year's Basel World. The new Powermatic 80 Chronometer is an extremely straightforward watch with an 80 hour power reserve and chronometer certified movement, giving you a lot of timekeeping power for your money. The handsome package is an added bonus and here's a hands-on look at this high-value watch from Tissot. 2 OF 10 80 Hour Power Reserve and COSC Chronometer Certification COSC-certification is nothing new for Tissot. A few months ago we gave you an in-depth review of their Le Locle Chronometre, winner of the 2012 Concours International de Chronometrie timing competition (spoiler alert, we liked it). The movement inside this Powermatic 80 Chronometer is a COSC-certified ETA C07.111, which is essentially an ETA 2824 with a beefed up 80-hour power reserve, lower friction materials, and a balance beating at 3Hz instead of 4Hz. The latter two modifi
New Guy with New Watch...........
Hello All,Figured I would introduce myself here in the Omega section as well, I am located in Calgary Alberta and joined the forum with the intent to research and purcase a Rolex. Well in my searches I ran across an Omega Planet Ocean 2209.50 for sale by train-time and REALLY liked it so bought it!! Was a perfect transaction and he had it to me as described overnight!! Anyhow just because I know none of you have seen these particular watches here are a couple of pics from train-time's for sale post (None on me yet)..........That being said I am sure I will be lurking around, I am going to use this watch as my daily wearer, am still on the hunt for a Rolex 16710 Coke or Pepsi model for occasional wear, and wear an old Tag Kirium as my beater.Tony2
Incoming - 5711
I have owned a 5726 on bracelet and strap, 5980 two tone and Rose bracelet, none of these lasted long. I had a 5980R sold it, bought the actual watch back. Having trouble getting a Nautilus to last in the collection or rotation. I now love and wear my 5980R, I wear it a few days each month. I was considering rounding things out by having a Nautilus on bracelet to add to the strap and have one piece in steel and one PM. Didn't know which reference was going to sing to me this time around, if any. Kind of been there done that sort of thought process. In speaking to my favorite and great AD's I was informed they just had a 5711 arrive. I always thought of it as just an entry level piece due to the lack of complications. Then I started to think about the 5711 more and more. I generally have tastes now towards extremes, if I want a sports watch I want the ultimate, if a complicated I want them all, etc. The 5711 is an 'all rounder' HOWEVER sometimes less is more. A clean, quality, simple wa
Watches on sale as bnib but way less than msrp
One question been puzzling me. I see lots of bnib watches for sale at way less than mrsp eg 116619lb PM Smurf on sale for $26k a few weeks old when the msrp is over $36k. Plus lots of others that are less than cost. Who is taking the hit on these if they are sold at cost - and if not how can the trusted sellers make cash on them ??
