De Bethune DB25 Moon Phase With Silicon Balance Wheel
This latest addition to De Bethune’s DB25 family is fitted with a new hand-wound mechanical caliber with a six-day power reserve, based on the DB2105 movement. The silicon balance wheel, used for the first time in a production movement, is the product of research undertaken since 2002 focused on improving the oscillator. Together with the balance spring with the De Bethune flat terminal curve, the two form an oscillating assembly that marks a new step forward in the quest for isochronism, a precisely uniform rate. The 44.6mm drum case in rose or gray gold houses a silvered gold dial with hand-applied guilloch. The famous De Bethune spherical moon appears through the dial against a sky that is flame-blued by hand and dotted with gold stars. The moon consists of two hemispheres, one in flame-blued steel and one in platinum, and it rotates on its own axis, reproducing exactly what you would see in the sky. The moon-phase display is accurate to within 1 day in 122 years. The technica
Breguet Marine Royal Ref. 5847 Alarm Watch
In 2004 Breguet launched a new interpretation of the Marine line, and for 2009 they introduce the Marine Royal Ref. 5847 with 300 meter water resistance and an alarm designed to operate under water. The case is an imposing 45mm and is available in 18k pink or white gold. Twin barrels provide the power – one for timekeeping and one for the alarm. Both barrels are wound by a single crown. The Marine Royal naturally possesses the usual diver's-watch features, including a unidirectional bezel inscribed with a graduated 20-minute sector. The bezel's rotation is secured by a blocking pawl, visible and located between the two winding crowns on the case flank. The crowns screw down, and the alarm setting crown and on-off pushpiece, in gold, are sheathed in rubber for easier handling. To improve legibility, the minute markers and minute hand along with the hour hand are coated with white luminous superluminova, while the hour and alarm markers glow blue. Represented by a blue triangular p
Gevril Avenue Of Americas Automatic Moon Phase Watch Available On Jame's List
Little blast from the not too distant past. Looking for that Franck Miller look without being too cheap? This might be the piece for you. Like the Franck Muller Long Island (and watches from other brands before that), the Gevril Avenue of Americas watch collection has a very bold look that is a very appropriate look for the right sort of mature man. This isn't a watch for kids or people right out of college. The long rectangular case and wild serif font speak to those who have more life experience under their belts. This is especially true given the classic style triple calendar display on the dial on this specific limited edition model. The Avenue of Americas model is still the mainstay of the Gevril collection, but this Automatic Moon Phase version was made as a limited edition of 500 pieces. While I tend to dig mostly round watches, case shapes like this are interesting. I imagine a guy in a thick suit wearing a watch like this puffing on a cigar - regular 'fat cat.' It has a most ca
I need two more
For a collection that just might consist of only Omega watches...I need two more. One is obviously a classic moonwatch speedy. What is the other?I'm on the fence and would enjoy some of your thoughts. Maybe something I haven't yet thought about. If the pic sucks...left to right...DD AT, 9300 Moonphase, classic!!!, Globemaster
