VIDEO: Swatch Creative Director Carlo Giordanetti Presents The Spring/Summer 2014 Collections
There's no denying that Swatch is one of the most important ambassadors for wristwatches to the general public. Whether you're a serious collector or someone who's never worn a wristwatch, you know Swatch. We sat down with Swatch Creative Director Carlo Giordanetti to talk about both Swatch's current offerings and it's greater place in the world of watchmaking. Sure, the purists might say that a quartz watch is a quartz watch, but that would be to miss the point of Swatch entirely. 1 OF 4 Giordanetti first joined Swatch back in 1987 and served for ten years (with a short break from 1992-1995) in a variety of roles. After another hiatus, he returned in 2012 to take the reins as creative director. Speaking with Giordanetti, it's difficult to keep the word "dreamer" out of your thoughts C and we mean this in only the best ways possible. It takes a certain personality to truly believe that colorful plastic wristwatches can make an impact on not just the people who wear them b
Introducing: The Tudor Heritage Black Bay Black
You heard it here first, people – Tudor has released a new version of the Tudor Black Bay in BLACK. That's right, the fan favorite that was originally released in red and then blue is now available in black. 1 OF 3 The Black Bay, released for the first time in 2012, is one of the most popular dive watches of its kind. It was the winner of the Grand Prix d-Horlogerie de Genève in 2013. We would be lying if we said this wasn't one of our favorites, as seen by our review of the red version here. (With its black bezel with red triangle, the new 41 mm Black Bay Black is also similar in appearance to the unique Tudor Heritage Black Bay One, which will be auctioned at Only Watch 2015 on November 7th.)Tudor enthusiasts will be excited about this model as it gets back to the roots of the Tudor brand. Vintage lovers will also find it appealing for its retro design and clean lines. Its overall design recalls Tudor's first diver – the reference 7922 (la
Rolex prices In Amsterdam
I'm flying into Amsterdam in a couple of weeks...I've read loads about the great prices at Gassan in the airport departure lounge but are the prices in the Rolex shops in the city centre just as cheap? Or is the airport a special case? Thanks.
WOO HOO! My Poor Man Paul Newman-HERE
Hell, I'm lucky to afford the poor man's Daytona. Just Arrived: Ref 79170 Tudor Oysterdate Automatic Chrono Time. This watch pushes my buttons in so many positive ways. - Case and Trip loc Crown by Rolex. That's cool cause I love Rolex cases! This one is nicknamed The BIG BLOCK. It's huge.- Screw down crown & pushers. If I fall off the bar stool and land in the pool, no worries.- Two tone subs. I love two tones. If you got 'em, show 'em.- Rotating bezel. I use the bezel as a timing device often. Plus, you don't see many with this type bezel.- Val 7750 movement. My favorite chrono movement. Robust, trusted, and can be easily repaired. I use the chrono function often as well.-Plex crystal. Easily polished and plex has a luster not found in sapphire crystals.- Cyclops. Love the iconic Rolex look, need and use the date.- Oyster bracelet. Has a Tudor clasp and is ostensibly exactly the same as a Rolex oyster bracelet. Many thanks to those who PM'ed info to me.Now for the pics!dP
Moving a 114060 for 14060
Hey folks. Wanted to get some additional input before making a move in my collection. Thinking about selling my 114060 for a 14060. Has anyone made a similar move and regretted the shift? I think the 14060 May sit a bit better on the wrist for a suit at work, but would love to hear people's experiences with the two. Also, are you giving anything up on the trade in terms of functionality or have people found the 14060 to be as durable?
