Reactor Poseidon 1000m Dive Watch
The big daddy watch from Reactor is this Poseidon model - and has been available since last Fall or so. It is available in a standard and limited edition version. Each has style differences, and the Limited Edition Poseidon model contains a? Seiko made Kinetic (automatic rotor spins to charge the battery) quartz movement. There is even an exhibition caseback so that you can see the rotor. Exhibition casebacks on quartz watches are very rare. You can see the limited edition here with orange hues and different hands. I do like the limited edition better. The standard Poseidon model has a standard Japanese quartz movement with a 10 year battery. The two watches share a number of characteristics, including the chunky 48mm wide steel case with brushed steel, and black applications. The metal bracelet is two tone as well. At standard model is available on either strap, but the limited edition comes with both the metal bracelet and rubber strap.Reactor gives the Poseidon Limited Edition their
Microfiber Cloth and Brushed Finishing
So there is a thread going on the main Rolex forum (.rolexforums/showthread.php?t=463440) about whether using a microfiber cloth can scratch the gold PCLs on the OPs GMT2 TT. I weighed in, saying that I attributed the swirlies he noticed to normal wear, and not a microfiber cloth, but I wanted to get all of your thoughts about the proper care of an AP.I have been told numerous times by the fine people at the AP boutiques that a microfiber cloth was totally fine, and actually encouraged as the method of just wiping the watch down. They told me this was better than running it under water (although I do that too). In fact, I have done both - sometimes a quick dry wipe down with a microfiber cloth... sometimes a rinse off under luke warm tap water. Generally if I wipe down the watch with a microfiber cloth (that I keep in the drawer with the watch) I shake it out to get any dust off it it.I'm actually less concerned about the polished parts of the case; those will pick up swirlies from tim
Your path to AP...
I'm curious what all of your paths to owning AP were. Mine were kind of backwards, as I had met a certain gentleman with extreme knowledge of swiss watches, and I am a specialist in another type of craftsmanship, antique Japanese swords and consult on behalf of collectors. We discussed the similarities between the two (differences being obvious, as one was meant to kill, and one was meant to find out how much time you had to kill) and I learned at the time about there existing a whole other world of swiss watches other than Rolex.Anyway this discussion inserted AP into my brain as something I'd have one day if I ever owned a fine timepiece (last item was some watch I found at 10 years old with a highly luminous digital dial... the kind that ... kills you I guess!). I lost it. And I have a Seiko given to me by my staff that went into a drawer of keepsakes and was never worn. Finally bought my ROO this year after finding the forum here and bouncing some questions around. And here I am.How
Benefits New vs Used?
Im curious of thoughts and opinions on New vs Used for a Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch/Sapphire Sandwich.I have been looking for a while and i havent been able to readily find a used Sapphire Sandwich 3573.50 and the more recent 311.30.42.30.01.006 .I really enjoy the large box with all the accessories the new watch comes with, and would love to find this set in gently used condition. But New vs Used there is a good price difference. Is this just an opinion based answer? Thanks for the thoughts in advance.
Omega Speedmaster bracelet help
Hi guys,I am looking to get a bracelet for my Omega Speedmaster 311.32.42.30.13.001. This is the sapphire sandwich with the brown dial. I am thinking of something similar to what is on the 3573.50 Firstly, is this the right bracelet i.e. will it fit? If so, what is it called (model number)? And where can I get this for a fair price. My budget is around $600 - am I dreaming?Otherwise, what are my alternatives?ThanksGreg
