First Post + First Watch
I am 43 years old and I never wore watches. I decided to embark on a journey to seek out the perfect watch for me. I started with various watches and I ended up shortlisting it to two. The Rolex Daytona and the Omega Speedmaster Professional. I decided on the Omega for various reasons: NASA History, Classic Chronograph and I loved the presentation box. I passed on the Rolex because the cost was almost 3x and the availability was limited (long wait-list). The decision then was which version of the Speedmaster Professional to get. So I looked at both of them online in detail. Read all the reviews. I also went to an Omega Authorized Dealer to see both up close and personal. At 6'1 190 LBS and 6.75 wrist, I was concerned the watch would be slightly too big. After seeing them and trying them, by initial thought was true, the solid back with the hesalite crystal was the only choice for me.The last part was, where to buy it and how much should I spend. I narrowed it down to CH Je
Omega boutique in Hamburg
Hi everyone, I'm in Hamburg for a few days staying at the Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten. (Have to say that I'm loving the view from my room.)As luck would have it, I'm not too far from what looks like a gigantic Omega boutique. They were closed today but looked like they had a lot of great pieces in stock. I know discounts are out of the question but what's the level of tax back I can get back at the airport? I hear 19% is the tax but hear different stories in terms of how much you can actually get back at the airport. Your thoughts on this would be very appreciated.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Upmost thanks to TRF, you did good.
I just wanted to post a quick thank you to everyone who frequents this forum with regularity, without your wisdom I could not be as happy as am I today. (And if you're just here for the thanks skip to the last paragraph because I'm going to rabble a bit first.)I've owned one watch for a very long time, a Tag Heuer my dad bought for me on my 13th birthday (more on that later.)For a long time I thought good watches were crazy expensive, shiny things that I would never be able to understand, but over time and lots of research I started to understand them for what they are.Ingenious works of technology that should be cherished and loved (and worn and used) as the tools that they are, not something to be bought and hidden away. The more time I've spend looking at your posts the more I've come to realise the these things are treasures to be worn and used, so after many other toy' watches (and I mean that affectionately, like the Tag Heuer Monaco I loved dearly) I decided to buy my first Ro
