Montres Corum Srl Acquires Corum USA LLC
Montres Corum Srl signed an agreement effective October 1 giving it control of Corum USA LLC, the exclusive distribution agent of Corum’s timepieces in the North American and Caribbean markets. Corum states that the acquisition is in line with their global distribution policy and allows a stronger presence for the brand in the American market, which the brand considers to be of the utmost importance. Michael Wunderman, Johnny Wizman and Steven Wizman, owners of the American distribution since early 2008, remain involved in the watch business as owners and operators of the W Luxury Group, the exclusive North American distributor of Franc Vila timepieces. Michael will remain as President within the subsidiary company until the end of October. From November, Mr. Antonio Calce, Corum’s CEO, will assume the interim presidency until the appointment of a new President. The employees of Corum USA LLC will remain in office and continue as usual. The Value Proposition: The Weiss Standard Issue Field Watch, A Fine Step Toward Truly American Watch
The Weiss Watch Company has an ambitious goal: to design, manufacture, and assemble a mechanical watch not just within U.S. borders, but within the tighter parameters of Los Angeles County. Can an area known more for media moguls and perpetually flawless weather support a mechanical wristwatch supply chain? The answer is yes (with the exception of movement production – for now). The Weiss Standard Issue Field Watch is the first offering from this young start-up, and while it isn’t a full-on grand slam, there are a number of characteristics that make this a compelling option for anyone looking for a solid, casual-wear watch under $1,000. 2 OF 10 The company’s namesake founder Cameron Weiss knows a good bit about watchmaking. After becoming a WOSTEP Certified Watchmaker, he trained at both Audemars Piguet and Vacheron Constantin, unarguably two of the most respected watch manufactures in the world. In addition, Weiss is a certified CNC programmer, affordin
AP 26400 novelty strap thread
I don't think there is a thread on the strap choices we have for the 26400. I thought by starting a thread dedicated to this may be beneficial. I for one was looking for pics of a 26400 SO mounted with different straps before ordering. So, I will start the thread with the few straps I have accumulated for my 44mm. New Sub with 3235... Display back a possibility?
The 3235 is very beautiful as are all 3200 series movements. Can anyone foresee Rolex going with a display back? I would like to see it, but I doubt that it would happen as it would be a point at which water resistance could fail and it gets away from the Rolex tradition of solid case backs. Plus, even though Rolex's quality control is world class, why take the chance of a tiny dust particle being displayed prominently on the movement? To me, from Rolex's point of view, there are too many cons against doing a display back.I think we have all seen the aftermarket display backs out there for Submariners. Even the 3135 looks nice through a display back, but I am against aftermarket parts, so I would never put a non-Rolex display back on my watch. With the clone 3135 movements out there (I put clone in quotes because there are differences), A display back with a 3235 movement would be an easy way to tell the movement is genuine Rolex. But again, I doubt Rolex would put a display back
