Gucci Launches New Watch for 2013 Grammy Awards
The 55th Annual Grammy Awards will take place this weekend in Los Angeles, and for the third year in a row, Gucci Timepieces & Jewelry will release a new, Grammy-branded wristwatch to coincide with the music industry’s biggest night. In 2010, Gucci launched its Grammy Special Edition watch collection as part of a three-year partnership with The Recording Academy, organizers of the Grammys. The latest edition to the collection is a timepiece whose design offers a variation on Gucci’s interlocking “Double G” motif, which is incorporated into the bezel. There are two models, each with stainless-steel cases that measure 42 mm in diameter. One has a sun-brushed finish and a black dial; the other has a black PVD finish and a dark yellow dial. The minimalist dials with the Gucci' logo at 12 o’clock are enlivened by circular-grained surfaces that recall the grooves on a vinyl record. Talking Watches: With Jean-Claude Biver
We are breaking our own rule with this one. When we launched "Talking Watches" last September, we did so with the express desire to bring you, our readers, the true collections of true watch lovers. That meant we would never feature anyone who has ever been paid by a watch manufacturer in any capacity – essentially, no ambassadors, no matter how big of a celebrity they might be. And as the following for TW has grown, so has the level of interest from those who would benefit from a mention in this series. But we've remained pure, showing you only real collectors, who truly love the watches they buy – and the man you'll meet today is no exception. But, there's a twist.Today we're talking with Jean-Claude Biver. If you don't know who Mr. Biver is, I'll tell you. He's the current director of timepieces for the Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH) group. That means he oversees not only Hublot, which he bought, built, sold, and then direct
ROO with a suit
Hi all,I just tried on a 44mm ROO 26400 with a suit - it didn't really work for me. Not sure if it's because the white dial looks super sporty, or whether it was the size. The 44mm fits my wrist, but it just didnt work with a suit in the way a 15400 would for example. Does anyone have any wrist shots of their ROO with a suit? Would the 42mm be a better option? I am looking for something I can wear both with business casual (suit with no tie, suit with a knitted jumper during winter, etc) and on weekends and will be in rotation with a GMT Master II. Really want a ROO but need to find the right one which works Thanks!
233 vs 557 whats your pick?
I am just curious whats the overall consensus choosing between 233 vs 557. If you have to pick one whats your choice and why. Thanks for your responds and I appreciate the knowledge sharing and community. More power to TRF.
Will Demand for the New Pepsi GMT Affect Demand for the Hulk?
Two different watches, certainly, but am curious about thoughts on whether the availability and hype of this newest model, with an improved movement, might affect the demand for the Hulk a bit. That would be overall, and possibly among those who may be on waiting lists for both watches. If they came in at the same time and you could only afford one at the moment, which would you pull the trigger on? Would you wait for the Pepsi if it was a later availability instead, (USA) and if you expected funds would not otherwise be there in full? Also, thoughts about whether production/availability of the present Hulk might open up a little more if Rolex is contemplating making movement changes and re-styling the Sub, for the next Basel or otherwise. My SS preferences at the moment are to acquire a Hulk and one of the new OP 39mms in white. Interested in getting opinions as to whether Hulk availability is going to continue totally as is, or perhaps may get a little better. Thanks.
