WATCH WINNER REVIEW: Marvin Origin Gent Automatic
In July 2014 the monthly watches-dealer giveaway watch was a Marvin Origin Gent Automatic, and the lucky winner was Mark N. After receiving the watch, he has sent us some pictures and the thoughts below. We thank Mark, and everyone else who participates in watches-dealer watch giveaways.I have loved the various giveaways that watches-dealer has offered over the years and I participated in them with some regularity. Sometimes I even found myself forgetting and kicking myself for missing some of the nice giveaways. As time went on, I more or less resigned myself to the thought that I just wasn't going to ever be the lucky winner. I was quite surprised to receive the email from Ariel informing me that I had won the Marvin Origin Gent watch.First and foremost, I want to thank Ariel Adams, the blog staff, and the Marvin Watch Company for this nice giveaway. Your efforts to coordinate these are truly appreciated. In particular, the reviews are enlightening and offer watch lovers to learn of
Kari Voutilainen Thinks This Young Watchmaker Is Cool, And You Should Too: Rexhep Rexhepi's Akri
What were you doing when you were 14 years old? I was in high school in California, playing lots of soccer and generally getting into trouble. Over in Switzerland, Rexhep Rexhepi was an apprentice at Patek Philippe working on tourbillons. Now he has started his own brand, AkriviA. While AkriviA is young, the brand has already drawn praise. A while back Kari Voutilainen was in NYC for a Q&A event. A question was asked along the lines of, "what young watchmakers are doing interesting things?" Kari's answer was "Rexhep Rexhepi." 1 OF 10 2 OF 10 A few weeks ago I received a press release about a new watch from AkriviA, the Tourbillon Hour Minute. While this watch is really impressive and interesting, the press release was not. Instead of trying to rehash the press release, I interviewed Rexhep Rexhepi over email. My goal was to learn a bit more about his background, and where the brand is going. We received some great workshop photography a
Omega Price increase
Just spoke to my AD and Omega, Breitling are going up 01/02/09.Some are going up by around 8.5% and others by around 11% but he said the average across the board is 10%He also said he wouldn't be able to do anything price wise regarding a discount once the increase kicks in which is a blow. Especially as he has a watch I want at the moment and would only give me 10% which wasn't good enough. It will have to wait.Anybody getting more than 10% from their AD's?Si

Tag 6000 Chrono
Ok guys I need some opinions. I have my first what I would call a nice watch that I bought probably 20yrs ago. It's a Tag Heuer 6000 Chronograph Quartz. I just had it's serviced directly at Tag and spent $780. It looks basically new now. The problem I have is that I never wear it anymore and it just sits in my watch box. My question is should I sell it? It doesn't really have any sentimental value to me, but I just spent almost $800 to have it serviced. I wouldn't even know what it's worth. I don't have kids so that's not an option. I could give it to one of my older brothers, he's not a watch guy but seems to only like my Rolex watches. So what's the consensus, any opinions?
