Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Squadra Palmero Open Watch
I fell in love with this watch the second I put it on my wrist. Images formed in my head of how I could dash out with it undetected by Jaeger-LeCoultre's watchful eyes. It takes a really nice watch to conjure up images of grand larceny in your head. I let them keep the timepiece, but thoughts of it stayed in my mind. I really need to own one of these someday. Before you is the Palmero Open version of the Reverso Squadra watch. There are other versions of the piece of course that aren't limited editions like this (gold is limited to 500 pieces, while the steel is not limited). Unlike some of the dual faced versions of the watches (where you flip around the face to display another face on the rear), this version style?gives you a view of the movement through a sapphire caseback window. There are enough differences between the Palmero Open (Palmero) to treat this as a different watch as opposed to just rebranded Reverso Squadra for some sporting event. What is the Palmero Open even? Tennis
Sneak Peak At Upcoming LUM-TEC 1000m PVD Diver Watch
Many say that it cannot be done - a 1000 meter water resistant diver's watch with an internal rotating bezel. Why? Well, it has to do with the crown that rotates the internal bezel. Unlike the crown for setting the time than can be tightly screwed into ensure high water resistance, the crown for adjusting the internal bezel needs to be functional, even deep under water. Part of this dilemma is purely academic, because people can't even dive that deep and live. So you could theoretically have a crown for the internal bezel that does ensure water resistance to say 300 meters, and then would need to be screwed down beyond that. LUM-TEC isn't interested in such trivialities. It wants to make a 1000m diver watch with an internal rotating bezel. I can't wait to see how they attack the challenge.Maybe LUM-TEC will use a sophisticated technique like the one that Breitling used for pushers. Read here to see how Breitling used magnets create 'no contact' pushers for its Avenger Seawolf Chronogra

AP NYC Boutique Visit
I had a lunch meeting in NYC yesterday so of course I took the time to visit the AP Boutique. Fantastic layout - they make you feel very at home rather than in a store. They had a bunch of great pieces, but I am always surprised when the Boutiques don't have a lot of the non SE pieces in stock. For example the only RO Chrono they had was the brown dial option. The good, or bad, news was they had the black dial RO Dual Time (quick pic below). This was the first time I handled the piece. All I can say is I love the subtle red accents on the black dial. The dial has such a nice layout it doesn't seem cluttered at all.I think its only a matter of time now.....
The amount of hand finishing with the 5167...
Whether it's Patek, AP, IWC or VC, they often release really awesome ad/videos where we typically see the manufacture highlighting their craftsmanship and human touch to the creation of their watches... However, these brands only ever highlight this with super high end complication pieces vs the entry level pieces like a 5167...With that said, I decided to write Patek to inquire on how much hand finishing and love is put into a basic model like the Aquanaut.. I received a rather prompt response and figured I would share it with the rest of you in case you were curious!A lot ask how can Patek charge so much for a 3-hander, or such a simple model? ... Well, hand finishing as outlined below... This type of hands on work is being done in Switzerland by highly trained professionals who are actually paid a decent wage vs a machine or cheap labour in China..Makes me appreciate my Patek even more See below:Dear Sir, We thank you very much for your interest in our products. Please note that
