Aloe Blacc Interview: Pop Star, Process Nerd, Watch Guy, Friend Of IWC
Pop stars and watches tend to make for a less-than-dynamic duo. All too often, when it comes to their watches, these celebrities make more misses than hits C usually choosing the gaudiest, most expensive timepiece (or its replica fake) they can find. That's where Aloe Blacc stands head and shoulders above his peers. The dapper, staggeringly charismatic 35-year-old soul singer/hit songwriter might actually be coming up behind the likes of John Mayer as one of pop's more horologically savvy hip cats. That may be because Blacc (whose birth name is actually Egbert Nathaniel Dawkins III) chose to align himself with one of horology's most respected names in fine Swiss watchmaking: IWC. An IWC timepiece isn't a mere status symbol, but a statement of refinement; if you choose an IWC for your wrist, it's not a default fashion choice, but the expression of a true manufacture. Instead, an IWC watch speaks to a certain seriousness of character, an insistence on quality and innovation; there's a cer
5167 w/ 315 vs 324
Another thread brought me to bringing up this question as I've been looking at the 5167 from some time. I've come to learn that the 5167 when it originally debuted had the 315 in it and the was quickly phased out for the 324. I've read that there 'may have' been as little as 150 of these produced but no evidence to back it up. I realize that both are reliable and that the main difference is the power reserve on the 315 is slightly longer, while that 324 has 28k oscillations vs the 315's ~21k, which improves accuracy. That being said, is a 5167 with a 315 movement something that might be sought after or seen as more of a collectible or just something that is merely outdated?...and therefore less expensive?

5711 and its brothers .... 116500 and its grand parents.... 15202 now too....
These watches.... Are off the hook right nowDon't get me wrong, I love them all... MassivelyBut I'm wondering... In 2012 I saw and tried on 5711 in ADs while deciding if I like it enoughIn 2014 I tried on 116520, similarlyIn 2015 I bought a 16520 for 8,000, which was pricey just 2 years ago!Obviously they've all gone up a bit in rrp. And been currency adjusted due brexit etcBut some are nearly 100% over retail nowHas this been seen before? I heard, before I arrived on scene that the original 116520 went few grand over, but is the current situation unprecedented or cyclic?
