Would You Propose Marriage with a Watch? If so, which?
Instead of going with the traditional route of giving a diamond ring as a gift during the proposal of marriage - why not give something that holds greater, deeper value? A watch is a creation that stands on its own. A ring, well Rings are symbolic of love but only through the excellence of marketing.A watch may not immediately equate to romantic love, but when you get beyond the case and the dial, you do see love. Watches represent years of design, manufacturing, experimentation, etc. And they capture time. Which, as you offer a proposal of marriage, is all you are thinking about. You know, the forever part.As a woman in my mid-twenties, who's been in a serious relationship for the better part of a decade, this is something that really interests me. Watches are my thing, so this would really impress me.But really - anything different - and unique - to her and you - should be what motivates and inspires you. Not bridal magazines.I've never really understood the point of an engag

Hi all First AP, a 15400 black dial. It will replace my SubC as my ss watch. After my purchase of a gold GMT II last year, I felt I needed more visual variety. I have a somewhat random question though, hopefully you all can provide some insight.... AP haphazardly wraps their new watches in what appears to be cheap clear plastic and blue plastic (same as what is used on electronics). Rolex as most of you know uses precision cut pieces applied at strategic locations. Any idea why the cheap look of the AP wrapping? Considering that AP is considered a more luxurious brand?
my new baby... so happy!!!
I gave my Black Bond Chronograph to my dad as a present last month... I gave it to him for all the sacrifices he made as a parent by working at two jobs to put me and my sisters through college!!! He really never got any big present like this and has always loved the old blue chronograph... also if there were presents for mom and dad it was usually a combined present for mom and dad and it was usually what mom wanted and dad just went along with it (new stuff for the house or if it was for him a small power tool)... but this time, it was just gonna be a big surprise for him and it was, :DSo since the Bond was gone I have been rocking the Casio Riseman G-Shock that my loving GF gave me for Xmas...But finally, on March 4th... I did it... I went to the favorite Omega AD store and procured this... the watch I've been lusting for since January...Now next on the list a Omega Speedmaster MoonWatch... and then my saving for my first Rolex, :D hopefully a SS Sub (2010 when it gets upgraded)...
Tell me more about my Rolex! (gifted from father)
Hi all! First time poster here. I have long been into watches, and have recently received a special gift for my 25th birthday, my fathers Rolex datejust. I remember seeing this watch throughout my entire life, and to say I'm excited would be an understatement. Anyway, I'd like to know the reference and as much about this watch as possible, and I'll attach three pictures I just took. He purchased the watch in Switzerland while on vacation there, in the early 1980's, he thinks it might have been 1982 but he's not entirely sure. I know it's 36mm with a jubilee bracelet, a smooth bezel, and what seems like a black or maybe even a slight matte black dial. It has just returned from it's second service by Rolex in the over the 30+ years the watch has been alive, and I think it's looking great. New acrylic crystal, polished, certain parts of movement replaced, etc. Anyway, tell me what you think, and I'd really love to hear more about this watch from true experts. Tell me everything and anythi
Wait for Daytona C or BLNR?
Like many here, I'm on a waitlist at a small-mid sized AD for a white Daytona-C. I've been bugging the salesperson with whom I've worked and have gleaned that I'm number 4-5 on the waitlist. She told me that one Daytona had been delivered to the AD so far, and that she had no idea what her allocation would be. She has said repeatedly that she expects allocation to be very modest. The release has made me anxious to pick up my first Rolex. If i were to act now, I'd pick up a BLNR from a trusted dealer. I really love that watch as well, but it's hard to compete with the initial wow factor of the new Daytona releases. Still, if it will be a year till the Daytona would come, I'd be very tempted to get the BLNR. Would appreciate speculation in when i might expect to get the call for the Daytona C and what you would do in my shoes. Thanks.
