Tissot Seastar 1000 Automatic Chronograph Watch
It does not surprise me that this year we get a new Seastar watch from Tissot, but this particular neat design wasn't expected. There is something retro about it - likely the thinner rotating diver's bezel - but it has a nice modern looking dial. Detail is pleasant and the functionality seems sound for this circa $1000 timepiece collection. The dial will come in a few colors. Seen here are just two of them being black dial with white and blue accents, as well as the black and orange dial. Having two different tones of blue is a benefit to the black and blue one (call it bruised, I dare you). Features such as a small but present and sloped flange ring as well as slightly depressed subsidiary dials give the dial a higher end look. The dial is also pretty easy to read thanks for the slick layout. The hands and hour markers are coated with SuperLumiNova. One this I don't get is the Seastar "1000" name. The case is water resistant to 300 meters not 1000. At least when you have a numerical val
Modding Heaven: The Dagaz Storefront
In the beginning it was two Canadian ex-pat watch enthusiasts in Hong Kong riding around the streets on a motorcycle dreaming of one day opening a store dedicated to watch modification and their own line of custom built watches. This year the dream was realized. The two guys, Jake Bourdeau (who we've profiled) and Noah Fuller, are early pioneers in the watch modding movement, where stock watches were customized with different dials, hands, chapter rings, bezel inserts and other elements. While Fuller sadly passed away in 2011 after a year-long battle with cancer, his partner and protge Bourdeau kept their dream alive, operating their online business Dagaz Watches/10Watches and bringing to market the "TII-Typhoon" 300m dive watch, a homage to the Seiko 6105-8000 series, released as a limited edition sequel to the "Tsunami" 300m, Fuller's vision and a tribute to the Seiko 6309-704x series.Today, Bourdeau has recently opened a retail location in a Hong Kong mall where customers can now wal
Back to Omega - 9300 and NATO content
After being Omega-less for the last few months, I'm back and very pleased. When I tried this on at the Omega boutique the other day, I started losing sleep. I've always been a Moonwatch fan, but always thought the Speedy 9300 was too big, thick, expensive...and not an original Moonwatch. I spent almost an hour trying it on, looking at all of the options and comparing it to previous Omegas that I have flipped. This watch is very comfortable likely due to being well balanced. Much has been written here about the watch (I know cuz I read most of the posts researching) so I'll spare you the additional review. Also, if you are wondering if the NATOs are worth the steep price of admission, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. Thanks for looking, Gil!
Tudor Pepsi GMT hand...too long?
I know its only been a day and haven't seen it in real life yet (and I truly would like to add the Tudor Pepsi GMT to my collection)But do any of you find the Tudor GMT hand kind of LONG (and actually extends past the minute track)
