Omega Speedmaster Date "Yemen" Watch
Why the Speedmaster Date "Yemen?" Well, Omega doesn't give it a special name, and the dial does bear the colors of the Yemen's flag - which is red, white, and black. So that is the nick name I have given it to differentiate it from the zillion other Speedmaster watches. I am discussing this Omega Speedmaster Date variant because I think it is a particularly handsome look - that reminds me of a combo of modern and retro design cues. And is it just me, or does this "theme" remind you a bit of the Rolex Paul Newman Daytona? The light toned white dial with black subdials really bring out the look of the subdials, even when seen from afar. Then, the added red color add a youthful sportiness to the Speedmaster look, that itself doesn't always feel "fresh." I've shown most of the variants here, but there are a few others than you can check out via Omega here. You can see that Omega offers it in the Valjoux 7750 movement version, as well as with their Calibre 3304 (which I think is an ETA 2894,

How much is 1 year's extra warranty worth to you?
So I've zero'd in on a RO 26300 and visited my local and only AD in my neck of the woods. Surprisingly they had one in stock and so I tried it on and fell in love. When negotiating the price we didn't quite reach the level I was targeting. However, the sales rep offered to throw in an extra 1 year's warranty = 4 years warranty.Actually, he tried tricking me into thinking it was 2 years additional warranty, after which I brought to his attention the 3-year sticker concept. In any event, what do you think additional 1 year's warranty is worth? Sure, there is peace of mind, but unless something highly unexpected happens is it really worth much? I'm thinking a normal service should fix most normal issues and the cost of service could perhaps be somewhat compared to the extra 1 year warranty? What do you think?
whats inside the box??
I've always thought it was a shame to not make some use of these beautiful boxes and this one sits pride of place in my home office. I've carefully removed the lining and filled it full of bits and bobs. does anyone else make use of there boxes at all??regardsdarren
