The Black Belt Watch, Only For People With Black Belts
This watch comes with a great back story. A tale of a man they called crazy. A tale of a man, who probably is crazy, but we can all love him for that. It all started with Romain Jerome and their previous 'lord & ruler,' Yvan Arpa. The watch community generally has the perception that Yvan Arpa is a bit of aneccentric. One who creates ideas that are pretty wild. Half the time the ideas work, the other times, they most surely don't. One example of a failed idea was an all rusted watch (on the outside) enclosed in a hermetically sealed glass case. The idea was that once the glass was broken, the watch inside was guaranteed to work. To make a long story short, once some wild and wealthy people bought and subsequently broke the glass, the watch did not work at all - having been totally rusted through.Other ideas do work, such as Yvan's Titanic DNA watch for Romain Jerome. The watches worked so well, that they not only saved the dying Romain Jerome brand a few years ago, but catapulted i
5270 UPDATE (sticking DAY issue)
Here's an update, and the resolution, on my 5270.To start, I have been working closely with my AD, who has been an incredible advocate for me throughout this process, on my 5270g-019 sticking Day issue (see the link below to the TRF thread). This experience validates for me the importance of building a strong relationship with an AD. It's not JUST best price that matters but also SERVICE and FOLLOW-THROUGH of the seller, whomever it may be. My AD knew my concerns re: the 5270g-019 sticking Day issue, and he offered to work with Patek. In the end, he asked if I wanted to exchange my 5270g-019 (blue dial) for a BNIB (sealed) 5270r-001. While at first I wanted (and bought) the Blue dial version, since I just purchased last week the 5140p-001 (BLUE dial), I gladly made the switch. I never owned a rose gold watch, and while the look of this 5270 provides a completely different experience than its blue dial brother, it is beautiful. It is so warm and inviting. My AD made this happen for me,
Photos of a badly scratched Nautilus?
Hi all, does anyone have any photos of a badly scratched nautilus before and after being polished by Patek? I'm interested to see how well the scratches come out whilst still retaining the contours of the case? Thanks.
A question for Submariner and sea dweller owners
I have a black submariner with date and whenever I look at the black dial and bezel of a sea dweller I can't help but think it is basically the same watch. Yes I see the red line of text that says sea dweller and I admit it really pops and looks great. Both watches are awesome. But overall they just seem like the same watch or nearly the same watch. Yes I know there are some subtle differences such as the movement, size, depth rating etc. Rolex has so many different styles of watches in different colors and designs my question to those that own both of these watches is:What is it that inspired you to buy both a submariner AND a sea dweller?
Tudor GMT and 1955 Rolex GMT
Side by side comparison - Rolex and Tudor took the time to sync both photos to the exact time and date on both watches. Similarities abound obviously but really clear just how much in these photos. The Rolex photo is from the current Basel webpage on the new GMT as a historical reference, and the Tudor from the current Tudor page.
