Baselworld Preview: Blancpain’s New Villeret Model
Prior to the opening of the 2012 Baselworld watch fair in Basel, Switzerland this week, Blancpain has offered up what it refers to as an “appetizer” to the main course of new models to be unveiled at the show. It is the first model in the brand’s Villeret collection to feature a flinqu lacquered dial, on which several layers of translucent blue lacquer are applied to create the effect of depth. Housed within the new watch’s 40-mm-diameter white-gold case is Blancpain’s ultra-slim Calibre 7663Q, which contains 244 parts and 34 jewels and has a three-day power reserve. This new self-winding movement powers the hour and minute hands as well as a center-mounted, serpentine-shaped date pointer. The running seconds are on a retrograde display at 6 o'clock. help me decide?
Audemars Piguet 26331ST.OO.1220ST.01. - blue dial (~$23-24k) orRolex white gold GMT - BLRO (~$24-26k)Also considering Patek 5712 - all steel (~$40k ? should be low 30s ?- but prices seem to have moved up a lot..)what are the msrp's of the AP and Patek ?? I have a white gold sub and a 44mm Plat ROOIs the BLRO too similar to my smurf?Prefer to add a watch - could swap the smurf for the AP..but I think id miss the smurf (I LOVE the flat blue surrounded by white gold)Since I own an AP and a Rolex maybe the Patek is the right choice? Just seems like the prices of the 5712 have moved up too much. Thoughts?
AP 15710ST or PP 5167?
Assuming you have money to either one, which one would you get and why?
What kind of discount on a TT Datejust?
My gf is looking to purchase a TT Datejust 36. What kind of discount can we expect to get? I recently got my BLNR from this AD but of course did not get a discount. Also they had two Subs in the display case (date and no date) as of yesterday.
Has Rolex boxed itself into a corner with Ceramic Bezels?
Ceramic is a fine material and looks like perfection on a Black Bezel white face Daytona. That said does every Rolex need to bring the bling? I like bling but not for every occasion. Also the charm of vintage Rolexes was the way they aged. A 2018 Rolex will look the same 50 years from now. Has Rolex boxed itself into a corner with this level of precision?
