Buying Watches In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: Govberg Jewelers
Welcome back to an watches-dealer original series, where we discuss important stores that sell watches all over the world. Each store we profile has an interesting story to tell about where they operate and who they sell to. Whether you buy watches from brick and mortar retailers or prefer to buy watches online, these are the stores that help shape our watch culture around the globe. There is a long list of stores to cover, but if there is a retail location in your favorite city that we simply can't miss, let us know in the comments below. Here is a map of stores we have covered so far.Where to buy watches in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania? After being in business for nearly a century (they will have their 100th anniversary next year), you would expect a traditional jeweler like Govberg Jewelers to be rooted in the past and in their hometown of Philadelphia. Yet, these heavily watch-oriented folks continually push their watch business well past the confines of their classic retail stores in
Corum showed us their newest whirlwind
Anyone considering buying a tourbillon knows that Swiss-made watches with this decidedly complex escapement typically carry six-figure price tags. So it came as some surprise when Corum showed us their newest whirlwind, the $43,000 stainless steel Admiral's Cup Legend Tourbillon Micro-Rotor. (For $59,000, collectors can enjoy the same complication in rose gold.)
AP Clearwater Service - questionable work
Hi guys,I purchased a RO 15450 back in May 2013. Last may, I sent the watch back to Clearwater for its 3rd year warranty checkup. This is where my troubles began. Almost immediately after receiving the watch back, I noticed that the date would not jump at midnight. It would instead move halfway and then complete the full transition at about 12:30.Annoyed, I let this be for a while and finally got to sending the watch back last month. I just received my watch back a couple days ago and noticed that the 2-o'clock screw on my bezel is now loose. Upon inspecting the watch further, I noticed that several screws on the caseback were VERY loose. Now I am questioning the work done by Clearwater and the waterproofness of my watch.Anyone else experience similar issues? What would you do?
Gold for Gold? Would you?
I am contemplating moving my 42m new style Gold ROO (26470or) for a Gold RO (15400or black face/black alligator strap) and using the left over $$ to pick up a pre-owned (or new) Diver or another more casual piece (possibly Rolex).Does this make sense ? I do like the 26470or (yes I like the dial ) but am thinking the combo of the 15400or and diver will give me a little more diversity in providing one dressier and one more casual piece. I do have a FC44 which would stay.As always.....thoughts are very welcome and opinions are appreciated ! TIA
