IWC Launches Special Edition Portuguese Yacht Club Chronograph ��Ocean Racer��
The Volvo Ocean Race is one of the most demanding sporting events in the world. IWC celebrates its role as the Official Timekeeper with the launch of the new Portuguese Yacht Club Chronograph Ocean Racer Special Edition. The Volvo Ocean Race is an around-the-world yacht race held every three years. The current race began this month in Alicante, Spain. Over the next nine months, the crews will battle it out on four oceans taking them to five continents, and they will cover a total of 38,739 nautical miles, or nearly 45,000 statute miles. The longest leg stretches almost 7,800 statute miles from Auckland, New Zealand to Itajai, Brazil. While crossing the Southern Ocean, the yachts will face waves up to 100 feet in height and wind speeds reaching 70 miles per hour �C conditions that make this one of sailing's toughest challenges.
