Panerai plus
I have always been a one watch guy. Not sure why but I think in part because I could not see tying up a lot of money in several watches, and I don't like having to explain myself to the Wife. As a result, I have let go a couple of pieces which I would love to have back. Within the next year I have set a goal to acquire four watches which I really admire. They are ...1. PAM 422 (have)2. PAM 389 (can't stop drooling over) 3. Patek 5167A (can't stop staring at this one)4. Rolex GMTIIC (All black bezel and a re-buy for me)I will buy a winder and rotate them. Yes, that's about $50k in watches but you only live once and I'm already 1/4 of the way there. If YOU could assemble a collection of not more or less than four and at least one has to be a Panerai, what would they be? For those of you who already have more than four, narrow it to four only.
Hindsight is 20/20
So I thought I'd see what 'blunders' have been made by parting ways with a watch you may have had. For me when I got into this game was 2008. Shortly after having known nothing about Rolex apart from what I read he on TRF for months I picked up a Y series 11610LV full kit from a local grey dealer. $7700 CAD I think I paid and I felt too high but I wanted it. It was the most money I ever spent on a timepiece. I did wear it for some time but at the time it felt a bit lost on my bigger wrist. Soon after the big watch trend came about and I wanted something bigger...so I traded it for a DJII No telling what I would have done with it had I not traded it so I guess it could be worse.Anyone want to share a similar experience?
Skydweller on Jubilee
Has anyone put their Skydweller on a Jubilee? On my list for 2018 is the SD (SS) and I have a spare Jubilee (63200) that I am thinking might be a cool fit for it. I have yet to see any pics online of the SD on a jubilee......
The Grail Has Landed: Ice, Ice Baby
The Grail was delivered yesterday wearing an Ice Blue face spattered with diamonds. I opened the box expecting to view a brilliant blue dial; however, what I saw was a subtle hue, almost silver, that changes with the light. Although the watch is stunning, I was disheartened because I’d hoped for a deeper blue. I read the thread on the different Ice Blue colors, https://.rolexforums/showthread.php?t=402229, but the muted tone was unexpected. Yet, as I sat with it, absorbing its heft on my wrist, watching the diamonds’ vivacity under the light, the dial came alive in the most subtle, seductive way. I am smitten and trust that you will be too.https://drive.google/file/d/1Wvv...ew?usp=sharing
