F.P. Journe Stars In His Own Manga Comic
I wouldn't have believed it until I saw it, but watchmaker Francois-Paul Journe is starring in his own Japanese manga comic. Written and illustrated by actual Japanese people. Yes, it is weird, but totally true. I picked one up at a F.P. Journe boutique store here in Los Angeles and apparently there aren't that many of them. The manga is called "Story of F.P. Journe" and proceeds to walk through some elements of Francois-Paul's life and careerC and some of the the brand's watches and developments. Actually, the "story" is not entirely new but rather an adaptation of a previous manga made especially for F.P. Journe. That previous manga was produced for the Japanese watch magazine called Tokei Begin and was called "Tokei Kigen Monogatari" from 2005. If you want to know, it is written by Yasutoshi Murakawa and drawn by Nakano Kung-fu.The Japanese have a manga for pretty much everything, so that they would have one to explain watch history is not particularly surprising. I think there is a
Orient Disk Review
Today we have in for review the Disk by Orient, a fun and youthful watch with unique design elements that help it really stand out. The Disk makes use of some simple, but clever functionality on the dial to impressive effect, while maintaining a simple, sleek aesthetic. It further differentiates itself from other watches with a similar design aesthetic by being an automatic. More often than not, especially at the sub-$250 price point, watches like the Disk are quartz and marketed squarely at a non-watch enthusiast market.? Not the case with the Disk. So, for the more discerning buyer, how does the Disk stand up?Case: Steel with IP coatingMovement: ORIENT caliber 48743 automaticDial: BlackLume: NoLens: MineralStrap: Steel with IP coatingWater Res.: 50mDimensions: 41.4x47mmThickness: 11.3 mmLug Width: 22mmWarranty: 1 year International GuaranteePrice: $340 or $238 (30% off) with coupon code "wornandwound"DialThe Orient Disk features a rather unique and effective implementation of a sandw
AP Royal Oak Chrono 41mm) or Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chrono
I am in the market for a stainless steel watch that could be worn daily, doesn't attract as much attention as perhaps a gold rolex but at the same time (for me) carries prestige. Both watches will achieve the prestige factor - I'm curious about overall ownership, reliability, feel... Anything you guys can remark would be appreciated. I would purchase new or very slightly preowned so no worries about warranty etc. Please let me know your thoughts - I would get the jumbo AP as the VC is 43mm and I like larger watches. Ok guys, another poll. What do u think?
Polished Center Links Wear/Patina
Does anyone have pcl watch that you wear daily with the center links scratched up (normal wear and tear)? I love the newer bracelets but don't like the polished jewelry look. I'm interested to see what this watch or similar and its bracelet look like out in the wild with normal wear and tear. I'm interested in the 36dj ss dome bezel.
