Watch Winner Review: Swiss Army Officer's Day/Date Mechanical
In March 2014, watches-dealer gave away a Victorinox Swiss Army Officer's Day/Date Mechanical watch. The winner was Lee M. from San Francisco, CAand this is his watch winner review of the timepiece. If I'm honest, Victorinox Swiss Army had fallen off my radar until recently. I've always had a soft spot for the Swiss Army watches: they are well made, dependable watches with nice feature sets at very reasonable prices. The problem was that I didn't find them particularly exciting. They were maybe too plain, or too conservative with some models; in other models the cases were huge, and the fonts were chunky. I thought they looked good on other people, but never looked right on my wrist.A few years ago, Victorinox did a bit of re-branding and came out with a number of very handsome mechanical watches. Still conservative, yes, but really well-finished, and not as utilitarian as some of their quartz offerings from before. When I found out I had won the Officer's Day/Date Mechanical, I was tru
Hands-On: With The Bulgari Serpenti
The Bulgari Serpenti Collection is probably one of the most widely recognized jeweled watches on the market today. It is seen on the wrists of numerous high-profile celebrities and after seeing one in person, I can say with certainty is it definitely a showstopper. 1 OF 7 Bulgari, the well-known italian jewelry company, was founded in Rome in 1882 by Greek jeweler, Sotirios Voulgaris (later Romanized to Bulgari). The company continued to grow and was managed by three generations of the Bulgari family before being acquired by LVMH in 2011. It wasn’t until the 1970s, when the company saw very strong growth, that it became the internationally recognized brand it is today. 2 OF 7 The Serpenti is one of Bulgari's most recognizable designs and was first introduced in the 1940s. The earliest confirmed Serpenti bracelet design was inspired by the “gas pipe” design and was made in the Machine Style of the late 1940s. The result was a wrap-around
5711p vs 5711a
For those that have or have owned both, is the 5711p that much better than the 5711a? Is it worth the 4x price? Would you do it again?
Congratulations!
Well after many years of lusting after the 5970 I finally pulled the trigger a few days ago. I had been searching for the perfect example for years as some of you who know me know! I went back and forth between a P, R and even a J. I went back to reflect to 7 years ago when I first laid eyes on the R and the feeling I had. After much thought and research I went with my ultimate dream watch the 5970R. I was fortunate to find a true one owner watch, complete, mint and never polished. For me this is my very best ever and the ultimate watch. The silver dial is a true masterpiece by the master's themselves-- balanced and full with no empty space. The warmth of the perfectly proportioned RG case is second to none. The movement is absolutely amazing and one can stare at it for hours. All in all I rate this a perfect 10 and my absolute favorite watch of all time. Cheers all and HAGWE! image.jpg
