Watches NEWS
G. Gerlach Otago
A few months ago, I was very excited to introduce you to G. Gerlach, one of very few Polish made watch brands (yes, there are more than one). I'll defer to that article for details, but to summarize, Gerlach is setting out to revitalize manufacturing in Poland as well as pay tribute to Polish history via watches. The owners are a bunch of collectors with eclectic tastes who set out to make watches they want to wear as much as their customers would. As such, the watches range wildly from pilots, to marine chronometers to divers of various types. While that might seem like an odd strategy, they are doing a lot of things no one else is, and there is something in their line for everyone. Andthey are doing it all with very affordable prices.Following up their first set of the watches, which were altogether unique, Gerlach released the Otago, which we have the pleasure of reviewing today. This chunky orange-dialed diver clearly draws inspiration from classic 70's divers, namely those of Dox

Sorry for all the homage posts, but I'm desperately trying to remember the brand name of a AP RO homage maker. I'm pretty sure it was Dutch. If I remember correctly the watches were pretty good. Thanks,PrezTHANK YOU FOR NOT FLAMING
President Kennedy's Omega
Yesterday, I stopped by the Omega boutique at the Beverly Center in Los Angeles. I took a long look at the new Omega '57 Speedmaster. Then, while chatting with the staff about Omega, I asked about the watch Omega made a few years ago which replicated the Omega worn by President Kennedy. I learned that Omega made just 261 of these watches. Moments later, I was looking at 221.It is a pure dress watch, of the old school. No second hand. No date. Almost weightless on its caiman strap. The movement is Omega's own calibre 2006, manual winding with a power reserve of 40 hours. The elegant simplicity of the watch spoke to me, and, of course, its history. Given to him by a friend, President Kennedy wore his Omega Ultra Thin often, including during his inauguration. I have long had an affinity for Omega, since childhood when I stood by my father's side as he purchased a Speedmaster Professional, a watch I still wear. I'd never owned a watch such as this, however. So, despite the hefty p

Vintage Omega Chrono - Time loss when running the chrono function
An old hand wound watch of mine, made in the late 1960's keeps great time (within 30 seconds per day) when being worn without the chrono being run, but according to it's new owner can lose a minute or more per hour when the chrono is being run constantly. Can I ask:-Is this to be expected? - I would never run a chronograph all the time, so haven't experienced this.Could running the chrono permanently be considered normal useCould the time loss be countered by frequent winding?Has the watch been damaged by running the chrono permanently? Thanks in advance.
