Ulysse Nardin Royal Blue Tourbillon Watch
Massive money and massive presence. This Royal Blue Tourbillon by Ulysse Nardin is a no-holds-barred super haute horlogerie watch by a brand not hiding the fact the watch is meant to be a statement. Love it or leave it, this watch is a jaw-dropper. Price is $1,000,000 big ones.Read my full article on the Ulysse Nardin Royal Blue Tourbillon watch here at Haute Living.UPDATE: I've done a Hands-On with this one here: Hands-On With The Ulysse Nardin Royal Blue Tourbillon Watch
Damasko DC66 Review
In the world of independent watches, brands like Damasko stand out. Small, family owned and operated, they produce a limited amount of watches per year with a focus on quality and technology that surpasses most brands many times their size. Though in a year, they might produce a fraction of what other sport watch brands do, and their name is not on buses or on shelves in watch shops across the US, Damasko still manages to produce truly exceptional pieces of engineering and for a good value too. And I mean value in the true sense. You get something of quality that exceeds its price tag, not something for as little as possible. As such, Damasko is a favorite around w&w, with this being our third review of their watches. If you're familiar with the brand, you'll know they focus on modern pilot's watches and chronographs. While they have a bunch of models, the differences between them are often slight. With and without bezel, with and without PVD, a different color hand, etc The dials
My modern "Grail" Speedmaster: 1957 50th Anniversary
Not technically the Pro Moonwatch since it doesn't have the 861/1861/etc. Lemania movement, but this is my Grail modern steel Speedmaster that still maintains much of the Moonwatch look and tradition, with a special manual-winding movement.Retail on this is pretty nuts - in the $12K range, I believe - but it can be had at substantial discounts. There is a mint example for sale on here right now for $7K complete from a trusted seller. I love the enamelled dial with pre-Moon vintage text and OMEGA logo, and the column-wheel, high-beat (28k bph), Co-Axial movement is stunning and silky smooth. The bracelet is also the newest ref. 957 with screw links and vintage logo clasp. It's not for everybody, especially the price tag, but I got a terrific deal on this one and have wanted it since it was first announced. I was looking for cal 321 pre-Moons, but all that are reasonably priced are pretty beaten up (by my standards), and I don't think that I can live with the lower beat rate. Next up is
