For 2010 Jaeger-LeCoultre expands the Duom��tre family with the addition of the 42mm Duom��tre �� Quanti��me Lunaire. This piece displays time with a jumping foudroyante seconds hand showing 1/6th of a second increments, along with the date and the age of the moon. The “dual-wing” movement features two independent power supplies: one regulated by the escapement and balance, and the other for the time, date and age of the moon displays. The dual-wing architecture bypasses the problem of additional complications affecting the smooth flow of power to the escapement, and so allows precise timekeeping even in a very complicated watch. Though the new caliber 381 movement is complex, the displays are clear: hour and minute on the right hand side, date and moon phase on the left hand side, central seconds, and jumping seconds in the lower middle of the dial.The movement is designed to achieve the highest possible precision for a mechanical movement.
