Patton P42 Hyperbare Watch
Sometime last year this new watch brand was born in France, with a decidedly American sounding name. Patton currently makes three watch models - each a variation of the P42 design. Each are diver style watches, and one is a chronograph model. I would like to focus on the more hardcore model of the trio, which the Patton P42 Hyperbare - based on "hyperbaric chamber" (pressure chamber). The watch is filled with a formula of mineral oil that cannot really be condensed very much, creating space that is more or less immune to high pressure. The alternative is a case filled with air, or some type of gas. Oil filled watches are not common, but not unheard of. The Patton P42 Hyperbare isn't the only one around by any means, but might be one of the nicest ones. These are pretty watches, given their French design.Mineral oil benefits from being non conductive. Meaning that the Swiss quartz movement in the watch won't be affected by the oil because it won't short it out. The entire case is litera
Oris Great Barrier Reef Diver Limited Edition Watch
This is the new limited edition Oris sub seconds diver made to help out the Great Barrier Reef. Each watch that is sold will have Oris donating 50 Swiss Francs (that's it?) to the Australian Marine Conservation Society (AMCS). Didn't anyone tell Oris they don't use Swiss Francs in Australia! I joke! The money will go to help keep creatures in the Great Barrier Reef alive. Basically, there are a lot of serious issues with the reef and rather than help preserve certain areas, the project is going to relocate animals. A brave endeavor indeed. "Little fish! Sign these papers, you don't live here anymore." Now get out of herewe are gonna take you to a better placeYea, a much better place (chuckle)."The back 0f the watch doesn't have an engraving, but rather a special plate to honor each of the 1000 pieces in the limited edition set. The colors of the watch are done in ocean blue and a high contrasting orange. It makes for a neat look, and a very easy to read dial. You can see for yourself.
Does the ROO attract attention?
Just curious to see if people notice your royal oak offshore. Do you get compliments or do people take notice of it?

Patek Updates
Just picked up the 5711 and thought I should probe a bit about sales and how much softening they were seeing:a). Production will reduce to about 50000;B). They have been asked to provide purchasers names on most preorders. C). Attempt to clamp down on grey market and certain models will have the warranty cars produced by PP with the buyers name in itD). Possibly holding warranty cards for 5 years on certain models - not sure how that will work??E). Nautilus 40th will be underwhelming. PP just had 175 and 40 not that important. They trying to do nothing but consumers expect a lot so will be 2 models but expect to be underwhelmed. A request for a 5711P as an anniversary piece declined by Geneva already. F). PP is reducing dealers (guess on lower production cake slices need to be maintained) therefore AD will be reluctant to offer discounts that could cause them to lose favor or their franchise. Mentioned they rather lose a deal if someone can getter better elsewhere!
