AkriviA Tourbillon Regulator Watch
Like any parent will tell you, one of the greatest joys in life is watching your child mature into a unique personality. The development of a brand is a similar ontogeny that must be just as exciting and intimidating for its owner. It seems strange to consider that the global behemoths likes Rolex, Omega, or Cartier ever had a first watch. We take their universally recognised ranges for granted, as if the brand sprung fully formed from the mind of its founder. This was not the case. The first is important, sure, but the second, and the third, and the fourthIt takes time for consumers to understand a brand, to pigeon-hole it, to digest the message and see it realised in many rather than just one piece. With the Akrivia Tourbillon Regulator, the latest watch in this fast-growing family, it is just about possible to say that the DNA of this small brand has blossomed into a pleasingly homogeneous range. There are two main things we look for in range consistency: a unique case shape and an i
Photo Report: Recapping The Launch Of The Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar With HODINKEE And Audemars Piguet
Last week HODINKEE and Xavier Nolot (CEO of Audemars Piguet North America) hosted a private dinner for members of the company's board of directors, top Audemars Piguet clients, and HODINKEE readers to celebrate the launch of the new Audemars Piguet Perpetual Calendar 26574, which we announced here. Photographer and filmmaker Michael Benson created an astronomical-themed environment for the guests, using black and white imagery to create composite landscapes of the universe. However, the real star of the night was the Perpetual Calendar Royal Oak Reference 26574. 1 OF 22 2 OF 22 3 OF 22 4 OF 22 5 OF 22 6 OF 227 OF 22 8 OF 22 9 OF 22 10 OF 22 11 OF 22 12 OF 2213 OF 22 14 OF 22 15 OF 22 16 OF 22 17 OF 22 18 OF 2219 OF 22 20 OF 22 21 OF 22 22 OF 22
watch winders
Azguy just posted a thread about watch winders which has gotten me thinking that I need to invest in a watch winder. I'd love to say that my Omega will never come off my wrist but I'm not going to beat up my watch and can't wear a metal band on the ship.So do you guys have suggestions for a basic get the job done winder..Thanks,Tim
Owning 5711 and 5712
I have a steel 5712 and I love it. I was offered a blue 5711 which I like a lot, but keeps me wondering if it makes any sense to own two quite similar Pateks. What do you think?
Just found an old receipt
In spring 1990 I ordered a SS sub date from an AD in Reading-UK who said they would remove the cyclops with a guarantee to do it ok. (I live in the non-cyclops department and my eveyday wear is a 114060) see here.... I had the phone call after 2 weeks back in 1990 and meandered my boney-ass down town to collect. I arrived to find a very apologetic Store Manager. He was gushing with embarrassment and told me that they had ordered the wrong model and had received a Sea Dweller instead. Would I be happy to take the Dweller at the same price of the Sub less ?100 with a ?300 store gift voucher! the papers I have show the MSP at ?1,697.So my Dweller T25 cost me ?1297 . I sold to a smashing collector when my divorce was strangling me.....now rebuilding a new life and collecting again
