Diving Into History: 6 Milestone IWC Aquatimer Watches
At last year’s SIHH, IWC released a slew of new models in its revamped IWC Aquatimer collection of luxury divers’ watches (Click here to check them out). For fans of vintage watches and vintage IWC watches, specifically we highlight here five important IWC Aquatimers from the brand’s history. In 1967, IWC reacted to the growing popularity of amateur scuba diving and launched its first divers’ watch. The first Aquatimer (Ref. 812AD) was water-resistant to 200 meters and became the foundation of a successful new watch family for the watch brand from Schaffhausen.Working closely with designer Ferdinand A. Porsche, IWC began producing the Ocean 2000 sports divers’ watch (Ref. 3500) in 1982. For a time replacing the Aquatimer in the collection, It was the first series-built divers’ watch in titanium, with a tested water-resistance to 2,000 meters. In 1998, IWC reinstated the traditional Aquatimer name and launched the Aquatimer GST Automatic 2000
Orbita Avanti 4 Vertical Stack Watch Winder Review
While there is nothing radically different or innovative about this watch winder, it represents an interesting flavor as part of Orbita's Avanti watch winder collection. Watch winders do come in a lot of varieties, but consumers still have a tiny choice of decent brands compared to those who make watches. I find that interesting especially since making watch winders is arguably more simple than making watches. Nevertheless, the humble watch winder is still seeking to gain mainstream acceptance. But you?reading this are an enthusiast and adopter of all things able to make your watch buying, wearing, and storing experience a success. So you want one (probably more) watch winders to use for your collection of automatic watches. Which leads me to a funny thing Orbita (and many other watch winder brands) do - place quartz watches as models on their winders when photographing them. Am I being nit picky or is that just silly?[youtube youtubewatches-dealer/watch?v=tOLZzq8xv6E]This model is the
The Blue Dial......
is amazing. This 15400 is supposedly boutique only but my AD got one by mistake and I couldn't help myself. I went out for coffee and came home with a new watch.
Planet Ocean Rubber Strap Question
Hi Guys, I have been tossing around the idea of buying the Omega rubber strap for my Planet Ocean. I have a friend with the same watch and he bought a knock off rubber strap. It looks good but seems to collect dust like crazy. I was just wondering if it's because it's a cheap rubber or if the real rubber strap attracts dust too. I would hate to drop $500 on the strap and end up hating it because it always looks dirty. If anyone has one they are offering to sell, I may be interested. Let me know. Thanks guys!
What color of dial do you like?
I'm interested now in a Rolex 126300. I would like to know what dial colors Rolex is offering and what do you think is cuter or more representative of the brand?Thank you.
