Watches NEWS
Listen to This: The CBC's "You Can Put Time In Your Hands"
The good folks at the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, for you non-Canadians) have aired a short audio documentary chronicling Canada's last watchmakers school - The cole Nationale de L'horlogerie. This Qubec-based school is quite small, only three teachers and no more than 15 students, but it represents Canada's last watchmaking stand and its graduates are still in high demand. The segment, titled "You Can Put Time in Your Hands" was produced by David Gutnick and looks to highlight the slowly disappearing discipline of craft watchmaking, especially within the Canadian context. The school's future is in jeopardy as it is supported by the Quebec government and may soon lose its funding. The piece mixes history, human interest and current market information into a story about the people and conditions surrounding the creation of hand-built watches. At a little over sixteen minutes, this is a worthwhile listen for any watchnerd and a great way to kick off your weekend.(photo: Cbc.

Pam on steel bracelet size
Hi gang. I haven't owned a Pam in a couple years, though I'm patiently waiting for the right one at the right price to hit the pre-owned market. The question is, I have a friend I'd like to gift a strap to. I don't know his model number, but he wears it on the old style bracelet. Are the bracelets, particularly that old school type, 44mm only? Or did they make any 42mm Pams that came on bracelet too? Thanks for the help!
Differences between p.2002 and p.5000
This question came up while I was reading about various PAM movements, in particular two of the manual wind 8 day power reserves. I did a bit of digging and this is what I could come up with:p.2002- 247 components with 21 jewels- 28,800 oscillations per hour- 6.6 mm thick, 13 3/4 lignes diameter- GMT function- Quick hour set- seconds reset function- 3 spring barrels in seriesp.5000- 127 components with 21 jewels- 21,600 oscillations per hour- 4.5 mm thick, 15 1/2 lignes diameter- variable inertia balanceSo it looks like the p.2002 is the more complex of the two movements. It appears though that the p.2002 is not simply an advancement in the p.5000 but a completely different architecture.
Is it a sickness?
As everyone was aware of it was Day light savings time . Am I the only one who changes the time once I get home from work ? And the night before adjust the watches in the safe ? I also do it when the dates change tooSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
