Mhle-Glashtte Terrasport I Beobachter Watch
For a long time, I didn't know how I felt about pilot's watches. For years, I found myself underwhelmed whenever another in a seemingly endless queue of "me too" models hit the market. Every brand was at it, and I couldn't figure out why. Then, quite by accident, I ended up with one on my wrist, and I finally got it. What followed was an irrational interest in the unusually large,?plain cases, enormous emergency pushers, proud onion crowns, and the bold dials that can be read from a block away (at night). The Mhle-Glashtte Terrasport I Beobachter is not the easiest pilot's watch to read, but its integer-heavy display gives it an identifiability other more generic layouts sometimes lack. This watch is a simple three-hander with a centrally-mounted seconds hand. The slenderness of the red-tipped seconds hand is perfectly designed to precisely indicate the passing time, and makes best use of the ubiquitous line markers on the dial. There is a tendency amongst pilot's watches to go for a
Cliff Diving With Red Bull And Maurice Lacroix
Eighty-nine feet up. I find myself perched atop a wood platform, baking in the Texas heat high above a lake a couple of hours west of Dallas. While I am relatively okay with heights, I seldom go out of my way to experience heights as any sort of challenge to my ego. I take a couple of steps forward and a slender man with long hair, an enviable tan, and a Red Bull backpack advises me to not go any further than the "Texas" logo on the platform. The reason? Insurance. Were I to jump, or perhaps more likely fall, from this plywood platform over Possum Kingdom Lake, I'd plummet for nearly 3 seconds while accelerating to 53 mph before crashing into the calm waters below, most certainly injured and likely unconscious.I traveled from the temperate climes of the people's republic of Vancouver, BC to experience a suitably outlandish event in the Lone Star state, the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Tour. My companion and partner-in-crime for the weekend is a cool-headed Oregonian named Andre who scor
Help! 5711 crown issue
Hi guysNeed your help to determine if my new 5711 has a crown issue. As u can see from the picture, the crown is not attached completely to the case. There is a slight gap between them. I tried a few times to unscrew and screw the crown and each time the result is the same. I am worried water might sip in.If other 5711 owner can shead some light on this matter i would really appreciated it. If others have pictures to show it will be even better. Thanks in advance guys.Best, iceman
Devaluation
After buying new.. anyone know the percentage of devaluation that has Panerai and Rolex? Of course the watches have been maintained and that they are flawless.
Mayors AD
Last month I decided to place a 20% deposit for a sub 116613LB from Mayors down in Miami due to the shortage of sport models. I've been trying to get my hands on this model and it seems like it sells very quickly. While I was in Orlando last weekend visiting some friends, I decided to stop by another Mayors AD which luckily had it on display. I tried it on and told him I wanted to buy it knowing that I could cancel my deposit I placed in Miami. With this is mind, I tried to see if I could score a good discount considering I would pay cash and unfortunately it did not work. The salesperson was set on MSRP + tax and did not give me the option to ship out of state to avoid paying the tax on the spot. They said that it's considered a hot watch, in which no discount for any sport models. I ended up not purchasing the watch and now left waiting until my order arrives. Hopefully a better deal is given to me at the Mayors in Miami. I was wondering if this was usually the case with Mayors?
