Edox Classe Royale Watch: Stylish Symmertry In A Tank
In watch terminology a "tank" is a square shaped watch. Strictly speaking, it was a name given to a rectangular Cartier watch, but has been applied to square along with rectangular watches. Square watches are a contradiction, because an analog clock is round, and you have stick a circle in a square. Tank watches are style choices, and represent a different theme on what a watch should be. Of course there are many variations on the square shape. but the classic big box is always appealing as it makes a stark contrast with the disangularity of one's wrist. A tank watch always sticks out well. The Edox Classe Royale is a risky, yet rewarding watch from Edox. Mixing sport and luxury, the Classe Royale is the epitome of a "show me" timepiece. The most effective feature of this watches style is the color contrasting on the bezel that help indicate hour indices, which really brings out the size of the watch, and helps with legibility. Another wonderful design element is something that you unfo
Ceramic diver getting rare
With all the black ceramic diver incomings and the fact it's being discontinued it seems to get harder to find, on chrono24 there are just 3 on sale, 1 in the US, 1 in Hong Kong and 1 but used in Denmark, there are more white ones though but I would not get a white one, except if having a large collection and wanting to add a fun watch for weekends and holidays.I could be wrong but I have a feeling the black ceramic diver is going to become a highly collectable piece, like the 15300 and other pieces, I mean it seems to have been made at less than 600 pieces, mine is around 550 and I just got it, so the final number should be around 600 which is very limited and much more limited than some limited editions.Plus the fact that it' a really cool watch seems to me all the makings for a very collectable piece, with the 44mm ceramic ROO's it's definitely the coolest ceramic piece around, all the other ceramic watches I've seen, Pam 335, Omega DSOTM and a few others are no where near as cool a
Aqua terra daydate
Hey everyone,I'm new to omega and I'm really only familiar with the speedmaster. I tried on an blue dial AT8500 and really liked it. I went on the website and saw the AT daydate and liked that even more. Does anyone own one and what are your thoughts on the watch? I love love to see some pics if you have them.
Large dial Pateks - fake or real?
Hi. In canvassing the web for Pateks, I notice some big ones that seem to suggest old movements from 1880s or so, purportedly pocket watches of that era that have now been converted into wrist watches, keeping the original 'enamel casing' but now housed in glass. Dial size is a massive 45mm to even 51mm (at which size it could be worn on the forearm more than on the wrist). I would imagine these would border on fakes but the machinery seems genuinely from that time, which means it's original Patek and the official servicing might still be supported. And the sellers who sell this type of stuff are rated 100% positive on big ecommerce sites -- like the bay one. So the watches seem legit. One of the sellers says that these movements are genuine and widely covered in the Patek books. How can I confirm (or otherwise) these claims? Where can I find these books? Google doesn't turn up anything meaningful. The seller has been quite convincing -- and he's the owner of a pretty solid looking bus
Which Rolex to add???
My humble collection is need of a Rolex so I'm asking all you fine folks to help me decide on which model to add to this trio. I've owned several Rolex refs in the past....116610LN, 114060, 116710LN, 116710BLNR (twice!), and the Daytona (black dial). But just none ever stuck for various reasons (didn't work with the current collection, got bored, didn't work as a one watch collection, etc). I've even considered adding a ref that I've owned before as maybe it would work within the current SOTC. But if I were to add a ref I've never owned before, a TT sub is high on my list as well as the 116610LV. Possibly even the new Explorer I? Thoughts, suggestions, recommendations, comments all welcomed! Thanks in advance.
