The Unique Voutilainen GMT-6 For Only Watch 2015
Kari Voutilainen is well known for his exquisite finishing and dial work. In fact, he recently bought the Comblémine dial-making factory to add to his workshop's dial-making capabilities. This shows in his GMT-6 for Only Watch 2015, with a unique dial. The white-gold dial combines guilloché and enamel techniques for a beautiful effect, with the GMT complication at 6 o'clock. The movement features Voutilainen's direct impulse escapement with two escape wheels, and is a joy to look at. The massive balance wheel beats at 2.5Hz, held in place by a thin, black-polished bridge. The 39 mm case is stainless steel, and features Voutilainen's signature teardrop lugs. 1 OF 1 For an event like Only Watch, you can expect a bit of embellishment on the lot descriptions. First off, the movement is not "all-new." It is the same as the movement found in the series production GMT-6. Second, it is definitely not "the first watch to use two escape w
My New AP Chrono!
Just received this Royal Oak Chrono, the Alinghi City of Sails from Tony G at JustRolexes. It was produced in 2003, one of 1250 made. It's 39mm, so a bit smaller than most of what AP is producing these days, and I like that it has kind of an offshore vibe but scaled down. Also, as you can tell from the position of the date, it has the 2385 movement, so is a relatively thin 11.5mm.I'm excited to have an AP in the rotation again -- I had a 15300 a while ago, but traded it in for my Nautilus. The AP fills a sporty but elegant role for me, more sporty than the Patek, but not as sporty as a Rolex.
The Patek Philippe Nautilus Chrono
The Nautilus is a watch which I will buy one day. Years ago I tried the Aquanaut, I liked it but it didn't take long before I got tired of it, so I sold it. The Nautilus on the other hand ... The 5711 is nice but nut for me, a bit too simple Than we have the 5712. I like it a lot more than the 5711. The extra complications are welcome. But I'm affraid I would not like the size. It's imo too flat. A Nautilus is still a sportswatch and for me a sportswatch needs to be bigger, thicker and heavier than a dresswatch. That leaves the 5980. A friend of mine has one and I'm wearing it for a few weeks. It has everything I want from a Patek. An extremely well finished case, bracelet, movement (this is ofcourse also a fact for the 5711 and 5712). When I put it on my wrist it just feels great. Much better than any 5711, 5712 and 3712 I ever tried. I don't have a small wrist so the bigger Nautilus is superb for me. The only bad thing I can think about is the price. Compared with other fantastic spo
Any pics of 292 or radiomir on 26/26 strap?
I usually only find radiomirs with a tapered 26/22 (or 27/22) sized asso strap. Anyone has a pic of their 292 on a 26/26 size, points for oem asso or jv!
Oysterclasp replacement cost
Hi all, As the title states, was wondering if anyone has had any experience in replacing a clasp and how much the associated cost would be. I'm referring to an official Rolex quote at service, not including the actual service cost. For the record, I'm considering having the clasp of my 116520 replaced as the blades have become deformed and seems no watch maker will touch it. Thanks and hoping to receive insightful replies
