The Triple Crown Winners’ Circle Watch: Longines Conquest Classic Moonphase
If you watched this year’s Triple Crown horse races and witnessed American Pharoah’s thrilling, historic victory, you may have been wondering which wristwatch was presented to the winning jockey by official timekeeper Longines. If so, wonder no more: it was the Longines Conquest Classic Moonphase, which debuted at Baselworld 2015 and added a new complication to the Longines Classic Conquest collection. Scroll down to learn more about it.The Longines Conquest Classic Moonphase continues the brand’s recent revitalization of the historic Conquest watch line, which was first patented in 1954 and now includes the vintage-inspired Conquest Heritage family. The design of this watch, Longines says, was influenced by the refined elegance of equestrian sports; Longines has been a sponsor of equestrian sporting events since 1878 and now serves as timing partner to the Triple Crown races. The new watch has a diameter of 42 mm and contains an automatic movement, Caliber L678, made
Montblanc Grand Tourbillon Heures Mysterieuses Is Like A Watch In A Tuxedo
In Villeret Montblanc is feeling very proud of itself. It has gone from making pens, to being a preeminent watch maker. The recent acquisition of popular family owned (previously) Minerva gained Montblanc that ability to tout in-house movements. So now their watches look nice and have lots of bragging rights. While I enjoy some Montblanc watch designs more than others, I can't argue that any of their recent releases are anything less than elegant and well conceived. In celebration of Minerva turning 150 years old, we have the Montblanc Grand Tourbillon Heures Mysterieuses (that is the most uncomfortable way of writing mysterious if English is your native tongue!). Inside is an in-house Minerva movement (of course) caliber MBM65.60 with a manual-wind 1 minute tourbillon (the tourbillon functions as the seconds counter and makes a full revolution each minute), 26 jewels beating at 18,000 bph, and with a power reserve of 50 hours. Not too shabby, and it is nice to look at. The tourbillon i
Benarus Moray 40 + 42mm Review
The thing that is great about a brand like Benarus is that they are a known quantity. When we look at their watches we know they will be well made, over built by design, with either classic tool watch looks or something all together bizarre and unique. They also put a huge emphasis on water resistance, so though the watches are generally under $1,000, they will be able to take pressures well above the norm. The watches I am looking at today are part of their Moray line, which has been around for sometime, yet keeps getting new iterations. What makes these two interesting is that they measure 42 and 40mm in diameter. This puts them on the medium to small size for contemporary divers, and as a fan of smaller watches I couldn't help but take them for a test drive. Both watches feature domed sapphire crystals, HEV, 1000M water resistance and Miyota 9015 automatic movements. As test, the 42mm comes to $770 shipped in the US, and the 40mm comes to $700.Benarus Moray 40 and 42mm ReviewCase: St

Visit with Fr. John
My wife and I had a chance to visit Fr. John and his lovely wife today in their home. I'm pleased to report that he is in good spirits and getting around his home well in a wheel chair. He said that it will be several more months before he is fully vertical (his humor) , but he said he is healing nicely. As Fr. John is a friend to so many here on the forum I wanted to pass on the good report. Cheers, Bill P.
