Grieb & Benzinger Blue Merit Customized A. Lange & Sohne Tourbillon Pour Le Merite Watch
There are certain things one simply doesn't do with valuable watches. Some of those things include underwater diving with a minute repeater and taking apart and modifying a limited edition early A. Lange & Sohne Tourbillon. However, if you must do the latter, it might as well be done tastefully, and by a fellow German company - which is precisely the situation with the one-of-a-kind Blue Merit watch by Grieb & Benzinger.Typically the boys at Grieb & Benzinger make their luxury project watches out of historical movements such as a 100 year old Patek Philippe minute repeater or split second chronograph. For the Blue Merit they have endeavored to use a much more modern movement taken out of an A. Lange & Sohne Tourbillon Pour le Merite. So yes, a limited edition Tourbillon Pour le Merite watch from the mid 1990s was essentially sacrificed for this Benzinger-esque transformation. Was it worth it?Before & After: A. Dievas Shadow Review
Since we started w&w, Dievas has been a brand we've kept an eye on. They don't come out with new products that often, but when they do, they tend to be interesting. Since the release of the very popular Vortex model, they've been on a tactical watch kick that recently reached an apex with the introduction of super-hardened steel cases. By making this step into the world of over-engineered super-tough watches, they've gotten into the territory of brands that typically cost quite a lot more. Their newest watch, the Shadow, not only offers high end components and machining that earns the "Made in Germany" label, it has a look that is altogether unique, balancing the sinister dark of a phantom with the legibility of fluorescent markings and hands. At $1,430, the Shadow is an easy and exciting way into the world of tactical watches that though costing several hundred to thousands less than similar watches, doesn't cut corners to save or disappoint.Case:? 6Steel BlackMovement: ETA 2824-2
Nothing quite like a blue dial.
Snapped a couple of pictures today and fell in love all over again.
Competition for my 5146???
Something very special about this watch but no power reserve and significantly more expensive than a 5146G! Probably lower production numbers though!
3186 movement hour spring problem experiences
Please post your experiences regarding the 3186 hour spring problem on earlier models where the hour hand glides instead moving with a click. My watch is definitely out of warranty, I would like to know other's experiences regarding this issue with RSC, seems some have been fixed at no cost and others have had a discount on the service/repair bill but I might be too far out of warranty for any consideration. Thank you!!
