Inside The Restoration Of A World War II Hamilton 37500 Cockpit Clock
New York City based-watchmaker Aaron Berlow specializes in restoration of vintage timepieces. Enjoy this fascinating look at the restoration of an important World War II timepiece, told from a watchmaker's perspective. War has a way of making things hard to get, and when it came to getting precision time instruments from Switzerland, one can imagine the priority the United States placed on that. As a result, the U.S. Government set about creating military specifications for timepieces. One of these specifications called for the development and manufacture of the Hamilton/Elgin 37500 aircraft clock, also known as the AN-5741-1. 1 OF 8 Before the American entry into WWII, planes were equipped with the LeCoultre Elapsed Time clock named the “Chronoflite.” Beautiful in its own right, this clock was quickly made obsolete because of a lack of spare parts, and movements. As war efforts ramped up, both Hamilton and Elgin factories devoted all their producti
Your thoughts?
Do you like the PVD diver, seems new edition of 2015, with metal bracelet and rubber strap?Since I can forget about getting one day the ceramic one, 2 on Chrono 24, in the USA and in Japan, while there are quite a few FC divers, this one is nice also, I like the blue on the dial in fact and also like PVD watches, well they say PVD but I guess it's DLC, if it's PVD no way as it scratches easily, it's not too expensive also, but I guess it needs to be seen in real, here's a few not very good pics, what do you think? I prefer the ceramic diver but by the time I have the funds for one it will probably be impossible to get one 3284743d_xxl.jpg3280368b_xxl.jpg
Panerai Straps..
Hey all, searched a lot, found lots of sellers but not an answer my question.I'm looking to pick up a nice thick leather strap for a 000, but I want it to be comfortable and soft. Classic, or Ammo straps peak my interest...What am I looking for? What can you recommend? Anyone have experience with what I'm seeking? Thanks in advance!
Rolex S/S Production, Waitlists.. and Fiction
Hi folks :) Recently went to Seoul, where one of the AD's in a big Duty Free Dept. Store had the following (translated.. and in order of the sheet):Pieces we do not have stock of:116500LN (White)116500LN (Black)116610LN116610LV114060116710BLNR126600Essentially to stop people like me going into even enquire! Some interesting things I've heard from friends whom are Rolex customers are..1) ADs get S/S stock (i.e. the above) depending on how well they do on PM sales.2) ADs sometimes have this stock on hand - they simply do not place this in display cases. A friend of a friend walked into his local AD and picked up a PM Daytona and also a PM Day Date for his wife... was offered a S/S Hulk on the spot, which was casually sitting in the safe. So, this made me curious. What claims have you AD spouted on the above? Any one know what their AD receives in numbers for the above models per year?Cheers,G
Best Buys In Preowned Rolex
Hello,There are some models that are very popular, eg PN Daytona, Bond Rolex etc.... These are also very expensive. But I am curious about which models seasoned Rolex buyers think are good buys now. I suppose there are two ways of answering thisone with an eye to future appreciation, and the other just considering quality of the timepiece relative to money paid. Both would be interesting, but I am most untested in the latter, as the former is purely speculative. It seems to me that some Datejust models represent great values. I especially like ones with Buckley or Vignette dials. Anyway, what do you think?
