Introducing: The Vacheron Constantin Overseas Self-Winding With New Caliber 5100
For serious watch enthusiasts there’s pretty much nothing more interesting than the launch of a new movement, and Vacheron Constantin has just introduced a brand new self-winding movement in an Overseas case; it’ll be offered in either stainless steel or 18k pink gold. This is an in-house movement, Vacheron caliber 5100, beating at 28,800 vph, with two mainspring barrels and a 60 hour power reserve. 1 OF 4 2 OF 43 OF 4 4 OF 4 The movement has a 22k gold weight for the automatic winding system, and the watch is water resistant to 150 meters. One of the most notable features of the watch is that it’s being delivered, in stainless steel, with two straps and a stainless steel bracelet, and they’re interchangeable. The pink gold model comes with a leather strap, as well as a rubber strap. Dials are in sunburst blue or silver, and the both models are certified by the Hallmark of Geneva (Geneva Seal). No word yet on pricing but we’ll b
PO Liquidmetal I and II
I was looking for a tough daily beater to give my DJII a break. I couldn't decide between the Rolex Submariner Ceramic and Omega Planet Ocean. I like the Sub because of the new ceramic bezel and liked the PO for it's modern style. Flew to the US to visit my AD but was told that the PO was out of stock. Tried on the Sub-C but it felt small when compared to my DJII. So it looks like I was going home empty handed until my AD brought out a box containing the PO LM. Right off the bat, my AD offers me the PO LM for the same price as the PO so I do not have to wait 8 weeks for the PO. My lucky day! The best of both worlds. A ceramic/liquidmetal bezel and the contemporary styling of the PO. The deal was too good to pass up so I asked if I could buy 2. Unfortunately my AD had already sold 5 and only had 1 left but a quick phone call to Omega North America President and a 2nd PO LM was on its way to my AD. 3 days and almost $8,000 later I have 2 PO LMs in my hands. Loving the watch. I'm in a pro
Smurf is gone?
Hey guys, there were pre-Basel rumours that the Smurf would be discontinued but this was never confirmed. It's had a ten year run and I can't imagine it would have be in great demand due to the price. It's a beauty and my favourite Sub. Would be a shame if those rumours turn out to be true :( Having said that, has anyone tried to order a Smurf from an AD recently?
Bluesy Gold Links A Hot Scratched Mess
Just got a Bluesy, (first Rolex!) and have a question: the center gold links are getting scratched up amazingly quickly and easily. Like, just looking at them gets them scratched up. My shirt cuff scratches them. My desk pad. The dust particles in the air scratch this bracelet. Of course, as I researched and stared at this watch for weeks, I never noticed this in pictures. This is not an OMG-I-got-a-scratch-what-should-I-do thread. My question is, do you care that the center links of the whole watch looks beat to hell? Should I care? Do you clean it up? Or is it simply character? And one more question: will the white gold Smurf show scratches the same way? Worse? Thanks y'all!
Not A Typical Daytona Everose Combo
Yet for some reason i enjoy it. Looks more formal on stock leather strap, yet does a nice sporty look when the band is changed to Rubber B with red stitching.
