Sinn & Paul Parey Limited Edition Hunting Watch
Sinn has announced the release of a limited edition chronograph in partnership with Paul Parey publishing. For those not in the know (myself included), Paul Parey is a German publisher of a wide range of hunting and fishing magazines. Sinn has essentially customized their excellent 756 chronograph with a dark green dial and earthy brown strap to make a hunting watch.Hunters can be subjected to a wide range of environmental extremes so I think a Sinn fits nicely into the hunter/woodsman ethos. They are tough, no-nonsense, reliable and legible timepieces that are not meant to be safe queens, I can think of few better watches for the active outdoors type. Many of the military-ready qualities which Sinn incorporates into their watches are also of value to hunters and anglers alike. While not specifically referenced, the Sinn Paul Parey Hunting Watch does appear to be a standard reference 756 which is built on a 40 x 14mm tegimented steel case and fitted with an AR coated sapphire crystal, E
Bremont HMS Victory Limited Edition Watch
Not too much information right now but this is the upcoming limited edition Bremont HMS Victory limited edition watch. The classic looking chronograph will be produced in honor of the historic HMS Victory ship. The HMS Victory was originally built in the 18th century and is the oldest surviving warship from that era. The limited edition watch is said to contain actual original material from the ship itself. The watch is part of a relationship between UK-based watch brand Bremont and The National Museum of the Royal Navy in Portsmouth, England. The final piece will be unveiled in July 2012 during an event aboard the ship. This is the second Bremont limited edition watch to contain parts from an historic military machine. They did this first in the Mustang P-51 timepiece covered here. There are very few tech specs on the actual watch itself, and we don't know exactly where the "original HMS Victory material" will go. It could very well be on the rotor of the automatic movement. I am guessi
Speedmaster Moonwatch White Side of the Moon
Following the success of the black ceramic Dark Side of the Moon in 2013 then the grey model in 2014, the Bienne-based brand has unveiled a milky piece. Unlike its predecessors, White Side of the Moon captures the moon as it's seen from Earth. Forged in white zirconium oxide ceramic (inc. graduated bezel, crown and pushers), the 44.25mm case houses the famous self-winding 9300 calibre which provides a 60-hour power reserve and fuels the time, date and chronograph functions. The white ceramic dial features an hour rim with white gold indices coated in white Super-LumiNova? just like the hands above it. The red-tipped chronograph central seconds hand is made of rhodium. The small seconds counter stands at 9 o' clock, the date at 6 o' clock and the chronograph minutes and hours lie in a counter at 3 o' clock. Price: 11,700 CHF
Contemplating my first flip...
So last year I bought my first Rolex, a Sub LVc. I love it, its an awesome watch and I love the green. I am sort of a bigger guy (wrists are 7.25) and usually like a slightly larger watch. Been thinking about the DSSD D-Blue, worried they may discontinue it and I love the dial and blue is a color I love. Will I regret flipping my first Rolex? I'd just save to buy another, but Im also saving for a house downpayment so its hard to justify a second Rolex in a year, considering that goal, but them discontinuing it has me thinking it may be now or never.
PVC/DLC coating recommendations?
I have a friend who's looking to have a 116710 done in all matte black. Watch head and bracelet. I'm out of the loop on having watches coated, and done a few google searches and haven't come up with anything solid. Any recommendations and or pictures of finished products? I'd like to find a company with a long history and strong reputation, not a fly by night new start, as I think I'm gonna have this done for him for his birthday. With time as a consideration, what's the average turn around time on something like this? Thanks William.
